I'm sure this topic has been done before, but screw it, i'm doing it again. For me some of the many are:
Denis Leary - No Cure for Cancer & Lock and Load
Bill Cosby - Himself
Eddie Murphy - Delirious
Robert Schimmel - Unprotected
Eddie Izzard - Glorious
Or just name your favorite comics, whatever.
Cake or Death? Uh, I'll have the cake please.

I would of put Carlin, but I was thinking of specific specials and his whole body of work just rocks, good answer. Same with Richard Pryor, all his concert films are awesome.

1. Eddie Murphy Raw almost put me in the hospital. (The video and album versions cut out all the best bits.)
2. Nick DePaulo (had a short stint on a dead-end sitcom)
3. I saw Jerry Seinfeld just before his show hit the air and he did 3 hours of great stuff.
Worst: So disappointed - Sam Kennison was so F*ed up, he had NO act. It was a couple months before he croaked.

Well, he would never mention a dryer door during his act...

Bottom Line.
VOS IS FUNNY.
If you haven't seen him live, I suggest you do.

Mitch Hedberg: Strategic Grill Locations
Otto and George: Dirty Puppet
Chris Rock: Bigger and Blacker
I have to admit I've seen Vos 4 or 5 times and I laughed my ass off. Never really at his material, but it was still great time.

anything by carlin (except his last one, it was good but not great)
anything by brian regan
anything by chris rock
<IMG SRC=http://tompoo.50megs.com/images/fattybread.jpg>
I have also seen Vos 4 times. The first time was entertaining, the secaond time was Deja Vu, the third time was annoying, and the fourth time was just background noise to a conversation I would never be having if I were being entertained.
Otto and George I saw at Carolines on a Wednesday night with 7 people in the audience (Also the first night I saw Vos). I was choking from laughing so hard, especially when George did his JFK impression.

"older" George Carlin, didn't care for his most recent special " a bit obnoxious"
Help Me Out - Can't think of the guys name but he was the "murdering hitchhiker in "Something About Mary"
He had some really good "off the wall" stuff...
That's where I got that line about "getting naked and running through a cornfield backwards"
Richard Pryor had to be one if not the best...
Steve Martin

A lot of my favorites have already been mentioned. There's one that really stands out in my mind. It would be Damon Wayans first special on HBO. I don't remember the name of it though. He did some of his best stuff before he got to In Living Color. He was also on those Robert Townsend specials.
I caught Breuer at Banana's in Jersey about a year ago. My head hurt from laughing so much during the show! Go see him when you can. He's worth the money.
I saw "The Legend".... Dice, in Vegas a few years ago. He had us all laughing pretty hard.

Both of Chris Rock's specials, Bigger and Blacker and the earlier one I can't remember the name of, are so good.

Obviously the King of Stad up is George Carlin... enough said about him.
I'd be lying if I told you that I could not repeat in verbatim the entire No Cure For Cancer album by Dennis Leary... it's scary.
I don't know that it classifies as Stand up, but I saw Henry Rollins on a spoken word tour... and this man truly was fantastic... humor and stories about life... I definately suggest going to see him..or picking up some of his spoken word albums.

Lenny Bruce: Need I say anything else?
Dick Shawn: Tommy Chong's PlayboyT Roast
Red Foxx: Anything that he's ever done. He paved the way for ALL black comedians in the U.S.
Eric Bogosian: Pounding Nails with my head
Otto & George: Showtime Special, various shows in tri-state area. (Where do you think Dice stole most of his material? From Otto & George, of course)
and finally,
Bill Hicks: Anything he's ever done. Why, Oh why did he have to die, and Fuckwads like Carrot Top, Jerry Seinfeld* and Jay Leno are spared?
-------
Footnote:
* Jerry Seinfeld is SOLELY responsible for the glut of mediocre comics flooding comedy clubs and tv shows today. I hate him for that, and I hate him for his self-righteous smug attitude. He sucks!

His name is Harland Williams I believe. He was the cop who drank a beer bottle full of pee in "Dumb & Dumber"
