For those who don't know, Wrestling Observer Live was a daily show on eyada.com that was hosted by Dave Meltzer (probably the most famous insider newsletter writer) and Bryan Alvarez (an independent wrestler and newsletter writer who's funny as hell). They just got a syndicated deal to do their show every Sunday night starting 3/17 (Wrestlemania night) from 11 pm - 1 am.

I was totally addicted to the eyada show, and would love it if NEW picked up this new show.

I think, therefore I am..............a moron.

I'd listen. I think Meltzer is very informative.

Hey, it'd have to be better than Loveline.

Never happen. Not a big enough audience for the show to suceed.

Honestly, I don't really care for Dave Meltzer. He's a cocky prick who's no better than a movie critic.

He's the guy who started the star rating system. Imagine, two guys go out there and kill themselves in order to put on a show and someone has the balls to rate your performance based on what they think is a good match?

Imagine telling Mick Foley after Hell in the Cell..."Hey Mick, pretty good match, good bumps, I'll give you three stars." Fuck Off!

I can't respect someone who makes a living off of someone else's hard work. Meltzer never stepped into a ring...he has no idea.

Don't kid yourself, Bryan Alvarez became a shitty indy wrestler to justify his criticisms.

SHIT...am I a bitter SOB, or what? You'd think the guy molested me...not that I'd complaine.

Let's be somewhat fair to Meltzer: yes, he pretty much made the star rating popular, but it's nothing that many of us didn't already do ourselves.

I do agree with you a bit about the star ratings....I think they've become a bit crazy, and sometimes people seem to take to analyzing matches in minute detail rather than just enjoying the contest. Plus, ratings are often very biased anyway. I'll use a perfect example - Scott Keith. He does rants / reviews for all the major PPVs as well as RAW / Smackdown, and he's incredibly biased. The guy will pretty much give anything done by Benoit a high star-rating, but if you ever see one of his reviews of an ECW product (which many of us have loved), it's ridiculously low. The problem with the star system is that it's all biased and plays to the rater's favorites. I don't think it's a totally bad thing, but as always, it's up to you yourself to make a decision about a match, whether you enjoy it or not (rather than taking the word of some reviewer on the net).

I like Meltzer....I don't always agree with everything he writes or says, but overall I think he's a pretty fair reviewer, and has a wealth of knowledge of the business. Plus he does have fairly reliable "insider" news, and he's one of the few "mainstream" wrestling journalists that heavily covers other markets like Mexico and Japan.
