I was wondering if anyone uses cable modems in Comcast's network?

The reason I ask is, Comcast is basically DEMANDING you install their new software in order to use e-mail and newsgroups.

Personally, my stuff works fine w/o the software, but I really wanted to be able to use newsgroups and I can't now.

Does anyone know if the Comcast software is spyware or not?

Z.

there should be no reason to have to install their software for mail or news you just need the address of their mail server and your password.
The software they give you just activates your old @home password and username on their service and it also automatically enters the info into outlook or netscape regarding your mail and news accounts. go here for details.
I would post the info,,but I'm not sure I have the proper permission ;)http://comcast.comcastonline.com/connectioncenter/generic.asp
You can always just enter the info manually if you don't want to install the comcast branded version of internet explorer

Yeah, but I want to access the Newsgroups. I never used my @home email address anyway, but newsgroup access is important to me for warez and stuff.
