Did anybody else watch this? I thought it was amazing and so sad. That's the first time I've ever seen inside the trade center (and I guess the last).
I thought it was put together well and Nextel did a class act in their ad time.
After watching it I got really sad again, but I guess that's good and it renewed my patriotism some more.
For anybody that's interested MSNBC is running some 9/11 special right now (I'm taping it) and at I think 2am and 5am.

I was about to post something, if no one else did. It was fascinating, painful, and uplifting all at once. I'm not ashamed to admit my eyes welled up on several occasions. I come from a family full of cops and firemen and nothing cuts through me more then Amazing Grace on the bagpipes.
Cake or Death? Uh, I'll have the cake please.
I was so glued to my Tv watching it. Watching this thing really put me in a bad mood again. I did shed A few tears watching the towers falling.

I think that this documentary was the only thing worth watching on tv since 9/11...The documentary was so powerful! I was brought to tears many times...
I feel that everytime I cry about that day, I become more of a man...and that is the truth...I have never felt so passionate about anything in my life...apart from my current love relationship...
NEVER FORGET!
Long live the USA!

I thought it was extremely well done and to the point without being exploitive nor gory. Nextel did a wonderful job in their presentation. My father is aretired NYFD andmy grandfather was a line of duty casualty so I felt it deep in addition to being an American and a native NY'er . Seeing the lobby and the bridges brought back many memories of the buildings and the concourse.

It hurt a lot to watch...especially with my borther and his GF, and the thouyghts that went through my head right away. My mom was in tears too...I went to a memorial parade to march in (Bergenfield NJ) for one of the fallen victims, so 9/11 is something for me especially. This whole thing hurts to watch especially after that...I was in tears too, maybe it is too soon. And I am one of the believeres in rebuilding...

Now that we've seen the good documentary on 9/11. How long will it be before we see some terrible TV Movie of the week about 9/11? It's coming sooner then you think.

I found the episode very captivating. From when the first plane hit until the towers fell (sometime around 10:20 pm in the episode) I was literally glued to my TV with my mouth wide open in amazement. Everything after was still great as well, but that time period was like nothing I have ever seen before, I felt almost as if I was right there with them when it happened. I don't think the airing of this documentry was too soon and in my opinion it was done in great taste.
IT'S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME-AHHH!

I thought that it was amazing, they captured the firefighters as they really are, a family.
If the two french filmaker brothers who made this don't win some type of film award, then theres something wrong.

CBS '9/11' Documentary Draws Big Ratings
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The CBS telecast of "9/11," a documentary account of the World Trade Center attacks from the perspective of firefighters on the scene, drew nearly 39 million viewers, making it the most watched non-sports program this season, early ratings showed on Monday.
A full third of all households whose TV sets were turned on during the two-hour broadcast Sunday night tuned in to the special, which aired on the eve of the six-month anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Hosted by actor Robert De Niro, "9/11" was compiled from footage shot by French filmmakers Jules and Gedeon Naudet from inside the north tower of the trade center after it was struck by the first of two hijacked airliners, and from scenes of chaos and terror outside.
The program was shown without commercial interruption, except for public service messages from sponsor Nextel Communications and from U.S. homeland defense chief Tom Ridge.
Preliminary figures from Nielsen showed the program drew an average audience of 38.98 million viewers, more than have watched any non-sports broadcast in prime time so far this season. By comparison, the Super Bowl pro football championship last month averaged 86.8 million viewers, and the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics (news - web sites) in Salt Lake City drew 46 million. Nearly 32 million viewers tuned in to the season premiere of "Friends" on NBC.
The Naudet brothers who shot "9/11" had been making a documentary about a rookie fireman and other members of the New York Fire Department's Engine 7, Ladder 1.
The morning of Sept. 11, Jules Gedeon rode along with firefighters on a routine call to a reported gas leak blocks away from the Trade Center when he captured the only known footage of the first plane plunging into the north tower.
He then rushed with the first group of firefighters to the scene and continued to roll tape inside the lobby, while his brother shot scenes on the surrounding streets.
The documentary contained rough language that CBS aired unedited, but no footage of actual deaths or carnage was shown. A CBS executive said the network had made the decision not to show "gruesome, unkind or difficult" images.
But the program had no shortage of gripping moments, notably the off-screen sounds of bodies of those who had jumped from the towers slamming into the pavement outside the lobby. The film showed the faces of veteran firefighters, normally stoic, but on this day experiencing almost overwhelming bewilderment at the devastation unfolding around them.
Some 3,000 people -- more than 10 percent of whom were firefighters -- were killed in the attacks and subsequent collapse of the towers.
Some victims' family groups and politicians recently wrote to CBS urging the network to exercise sensitivity in airing the documentary and expressing concerns that graphic footage might prove especially disturbing to survivors.
CBS executives said other family members acknowledged the documentary would be hard to watch but said they felt it was important that it be aired because of its historical significance.
"We've done everything we can to produce the show with the greatest respect for the event and the people who died, as well as for those who survived," a CBS executive said. Yahoo! News

this was pretty hard to watch but it was good cbs put it on and they did it with taste, they didnt try to exploit anything (unlike the following news at 11, awful)
but hearing the sounds of the falling bodies hit the ground was sickening

I'm one of those macho-type guys who simply refuses to cry at anything, but that doc last night killed me. It made me angry too. I'm firmly with those who are angry at the bleeding-hearts out there (whatever their political affiliation) who think we should go easy on those animals.
The documentary was tough to watch, emotionally, but it was incredibly important.
Not important enough, I guess, for SOME radio shows.
Why couldn't it have been the stairs....

I said originally I couldn't watch it but I forced myself to see it. And I am glad I did. It gave us a private look at the brotherhood of fireighters and gave me a better respect for who they are and what they have done for us. I'm not discounting the cops, iron workers, etc in this but this gave me a new foundness for what these men and women have and will do for us in the future.
It was tough and I did cry throughout the entire night but you know what... I needed that.
NEVER EVER FORGET!

I found it far too painful to watch.
At first I believed this was because it was a reliving of the suffering of so many people.
Upon closer introspection, I feel that part of not being able to watch was due to anger directed not just at the animals that did this, but at our own administration for doing so damn little about it.
Where is the war against terrorism we were promised? Where is the proactive response to assure this never happens again? It's nowhere - the whole Bush deal was and continues to be so much meaningless political rehtoric with the primary purpose of achieving some modicrum of popularity to give him at least a chance at reelection.
Before the Bush supporters scramble to his defense, consider this question: Do you feel any safer now than you did on 9/12? Does the the threat of nuclear or biological attack remain hovering above our heads like the sword of Damocles?
And I'm still horrified by the temerity of Bush's aid to "innocent" Afghan citiizens particularly women, when he has done his best to make the life of every American women worse since the begining of his administration.
If Bush were president during WWII no doubt the Germans and Japanese would have no need to grow their own food. Bush would send it to them, along with a dollar from every American child!

Everyday at noon they would play the starbangled banner or something else patriotic at my job but a couple of months ago they stopped. Now after this tv special they started playing it again and on my way to work today I noticed all these flags on cars again. What's happening here? Why does it take a tv show to remind you to be patriotic? Why not be a true patriot all the time?!! I'm talking Permanent Patriotism here!!!

Why not be a true patriot all the time?!! I'm talking Permanent Patriotism here!!!
This is one of the chief problems of America, is that we have short term memories...we allow common everyday things to cloud our judgments. We get bogged down in our own problems that we forget patriotism. I am probably the only person who actually says the pledge of alliegence every morning. Some of the kids look funny at me, but hey I say it all the time... Anybody remember the yellow bowtie things?? How quickly everyone forgot that in the prosperous middle 90's.
