I'm too lazy to do research on my own so I'll ask you guys for some help.
Last tuesday I had an "episode" and I went to my local hospital to get a psychiatric evaluation. They sent me home an hour later and told me to see a therapist and gave me a script for Celexa. I have been taking this for almost a week now and I can't sleep. Is this a side effect? What are the side effects of this drug? If anyone has any info for me, I would deeply appreciate it.

DANIGIRL - Celexa is used to treat depression and OCD (although it hasn't gotten FDA approval for the latter).

Like all meds, celexa can cause side effects which vary from patient to patient. The most common side effect is sexual problems in males.

Other reported side effects include: sweating, sleepiness, nausea, tremor, dry mouth, lack or loss of strength, headache, weight loss or gain, dizziness, and restlessness.

According to the litterature, the med can make you tired, not keep you up. In virtually every clinical trial of meds, there are always some who are effected in opposite ways. Your insomnia may be due to the medication, but it is also possible that it is a product of the major depressive episode.
