Giving In on taking meds

HK, as you know I suffer from ADD bad! Now from time ot time in my life Ive been on a few drugs to help me out, ritilin and aderall. I was taking Aderall in my freshman year in college, yes it helped me concentrate very much, but I wasnt to dedicated to my school work. On top of that the aderall was giving me horrible side effects. Most being this one where my heart would pound really hard and when I tried falling asleep, Id feel my pulse through my eyes. The other being jittery. I tried playing around with the pills, taking them after meals, or not taking them so close together ECT.
Im in a point in my life where Im really going nowhere. Ive got a crap job, making crap. I need to do something, preferably some type of technical school, but in order to do this I need to concentrate but I dont want to go through the same thing I went through before. Should I honestly give in see a doctor and get on something. It seems as if my ADD has gotten worse since at least 2 years ago, is this possible?Thanks for the help!

AG - Drugs for ADD and ADHD can be very effective in treating the symptoms but like all meds they need to be monitored by a doctor.

It's great that you want to go back to school and there's nothing wrong with taking a stimulant if it will make you concentrate better. Interestingly, rittalin is prescribed as a sedative for children and as a stimulant for adults!

By all means see a doctor. You're already taking meds that aren't doing what they should for you. It's time to try to rectify this.

some meds are good for some people and not others. you gotta try some out until you find the best one.
