Dear HK,

So we know what attracts men to a woman but what keeps you around?

You've met that really pretty, funny, witty girl. You've gone out a few times. Had fun, had sex. Now what? What keeps you going back for more or what sends you heading for the hills? What is it that she says or does that holds your interest? And what does she say or do that causes you to lose interest?? How can she tell if you've lost interest? And if you have can she get it back? How?

I can only speak from my experience Ivy. But I have to say this much, it really depends on how long you were dating the guy till you had sex with him. Remember many men are visually stimulated and when they see a very pretty woman it all depends on did they pursue you for what you look like or for who you are. And there are still many guys; not that many anymore, who live by the 3 date rule. If you dont have sex by the third date then dont waste your time. It really depends also on what kinda guy he is, is he commitment phobic or is he commitment minded, See if hes phobic then he is looking more of a now relationship, it doesnt have to be sex but just for now, if he is commitment minded then you will see he trys harder to get to know your sides both good and bad. Some guys start with an infatuation then go into a relationship which then may result in a fear in their eyes once it gets to serious they as you say run for the hills or get out of it, or if they have no balls they begin the "being an ass" phase which is when they become a jerk around you and stuff so you have to dump them. In my opinion you can tell if a guy is still interested in you is if he spends quality time more with you, and wants to get to know you, your life your friends, if he no longer is interested in you he might not want to spend so much quality time and more on the now time of going out and being intimate and not being there on the phone when you need him or saying he is busy when you really need him. the way i see it is this if you really care for a woman you do everything and anything to make them happy, you be there for her, you make her laugh, you give her your shoulder to cry on, you take care of her when she is sick,you get to care for her for who she is not what she is, and you take your time to really get to know her. I stronly believe this in all relationships, the fundamental basis to every relationship is , trust, honesty, communication and respect. if you lose any of those well its time to say good bye. Once you lose interest that is when you dig into what you know of the person on their likes and dislikes and if you know them enough you should be able to keep them interested, if only for a short time.
again that is my opinion.

Wow thats an impressive post. I think its how the girl is with your friends. If she thinks shes better than your friends then she can go "shove it."

It really depends upon the guy. Some guys are relationship-oriented. If you and him connect on so many levels (more than just sex), he'll stick around. Some guys just won't stay monogamous, no matter how pretty, how sexy you may be. Not sure if you were asking just to ask or if it was personal, but it's hard to tell what type of guy he is until after all this happens. Time shows everyone's true colors.

wow, I'd say, "someone's having a case of the Mondays", but it's Thursday...

To add something to this thread. I've learned that he hardest things to do in life are to predict how another person will act, or convince them to feel in any particular way. you have just as much chance of "keeping someone around" as you do of moving the stars. If someone wants to leave, they have made up their mind, and that's it. at least that's "my own personal experience." Sorry if that bothers anyone....

It's not about me being in a bad mood. when I posted that I had just come home from a kick ass Ranger game with 3 awesome people, it has to do with me being sick to death of your negativity. And the fact that everytime I post a question about relationships it's assumed I am talking about a personal issue. While if some of you choose to live your personal lives on the internet that's fine, more power to you. However I do not. If I have a personal issue with someone I'm dating I will go to one of my friends, not to a message board. As far as I'm concerned who I date is no one's business here. And I'm tired of people making it their business and thinking they have the right to make comments about it. You don't. End of story.

IN RESPONSE TO THE QUESTION . . . i think it has to do with compatibility. looks and wit can get you the big valbowsky, but once that is over with, its the two personalities that have to mesh. If they are a good fit, then it'll work. If not, then sorry, but you can't fit a square peg into a round hole without some hardcore sandpaper

Despite the pain my balls are in, I'll answer this...;)

This one for me is simple. If I've lost interest, the only one who can truly get it back is me. If a guy has lost interest, the LAST thing they want is the girl trying to get them interested again. Desperation doesn't play well. The guy has to decide for himself if getting interested again is possible. If the reasons he lost interest in the first place are fixable, then about the only advice I could give (in this hypothetical situation) is for the girl to decide if she's willing to make the compromises to keep it going. But if the interest really is gone, I'm afraid the best the girl will get is a man who's with you because he gets SOMETHING (oftentimes sex) to keep him there temporarily, but has no hope of long-term happiness.

In short, if a girl has to work so hard to keep her man interested in her, it's probably not worth the effort.

Now, since I've answered your question, Ivy, do you like me again? :)
