Jason Arnott, forward Randy McKay and a first-round pick were traded by the Devils to the Stars for Joe Nieuwendyk and right wing Jamie Langenbrunner.

so does this help or hurt the devils?????

That trade seems fair. The f'n Caps raped the Flyers, they gave way too much for Oats.

It's thinking in the short term for sure, probably helps them stay in the hunt this year, but I don't know about next.

The Devils are going to suffer a bit for this in long run, and I am bit surprised by it. But as of this moment they are tied with the Isles, sooo...

However the Devils have one of the best farm systems out there. Dont worry too muchabout this...

I'm not surprised that Arnott's gone since he was unhappy about his situation, especially after he lost his alternate captaincy. They had no intention of resigning McKay so I'm glad they dealt him and got something for him, even though he was one of my favorite Devils. The first round draft pick will be low in the round so that's not much of a loss. I've always liked Langenbrunner and Nieuwendyk always gives 100% so I'm pretty happy with the trade. Reacquiring Stephane Richer was good too. Even if he doesn't do much scoring, at least he won't be making any rookie mistakes out there. 

Nice health violation. Seriously. They don't stand for that in New York.

The Devils trade seems pretty even but I see Dallas having a slight advantage in the deal. I don't see the point of reaquiring Richer but the old time Devils fans seem to be happy with the return of an original player and fan favorite.

I'm pissed as Hell at the Flyers for giving up Maxime Oulette for Adam Oates. They panicked because of the recent injury to Jeremy Roenick and also because Primeau is out. I love the fact that we got Oates but we definitely gave too much away for him. Maxime is an incredible goalie and had an average of about .211 with the Phantoms this season. Leave it to the Flyers to let a great prospect get away...(Forsberg)

The Rangers made some good deals, although I'm sad they traded York. The Bure pick up was a good one. They definitely got a good deal there. Although if I were them I would have gone for Valeri over Pavel. I'm not sure if some of those "old" Ranger players can keep up with Pavel ;) hehe
