Who are the White Stripes?

There was a mention of this band here...and ive never heard of them. They have sold old shows already Who are they and what kinda music do they play..Tell me why you like them and what makes different from other bands.

the white stripes are a really excellent band. they play a sort of alternative bluesy type music. it's just two people, jack and meg white. they have been reported to be either brother and sister or ex husband and wife. no one knows for sure although from what i've read recently, it seems like more likely the latter. jack sings and plays guitar, meg plays drums. no bass or anything else. it's a pretty stripped down, super cool sound. and they always wear red and white. their song "fell in love with a girl" has started to get some radio play recently. and they sold out 4 nights at the bowery ball room before i got my tickets. bastards. they are worth checking out if you haven't heard them, they don't sound like other bands you've probably heard before. i recommend both white blood cells and de stijl highly
