i feel that anyone that has a psychological mality that does not conform with the standard DSM IV is automatically placed into the Type 2 personality disorder category. I fell this is just a easy way to put harder to define cases away without real involved investigation. What are your thougs cause i feel the psychological community has been dodging this type two bull too long.

You asked about "type two personality disorders," but since there is no such thing, I assume you mean Axis 2,

The DSM is organized into 5 axis each covering different areas of pathology and or diagnosis.

Axis One is clinical disorders and cover things such as mood disorders, adjustment disorders, sexual and gender identity disorders, eating disorders, sleep disorders etc

Axis Two covers two areas - mental retardation and personality disorder. There are 11 personality disorders including "personality disorder not otherwise specified." All that means is that it appears that the person has some problem, but it doesn't fit with any established class of diagnosis. It's therefore covered in the "unspecified" grouping. It's used throughout diagnostic manuel including sexual paraphelias not otherwise specified.

Axis Three refers to general medical conditions of all sorts such as infectious diseases, skeletal problems, and pretty much any medical problem. Sometimes the medical problem can cause a psychological symptom.

Axis Four refers to psychosocial and environmental problems, a relatively new catagory that recognizes that a person's environment can contribute to their psychological problem. Among the things covered are issues at home, at work, with peers, with education, financial difficulties, etc.

Axis Five is a GAF (Global Assessment of Functioning). This is used to assess a persons overall ability to function.
