I get hiccups almost every day... sometimes more
than one time a day. It is no biggy because they
leave quickly or whenever I hold my breath but
could this mean something??????

I've never had occasion to research hiccups until now, and there are some really interesting studies being conducted now. Here is the current understanding of hiccups and their possible danger.

A hiccup is a spasm of the diaphragm, accompanied by a sudden intake of breath and the closing of the epiglottis.

Ordinary hiccups, resulting from things like overeating and stress, are usually not problamatic.

But hiccups can indicate a serious problem, and a prolonged, uncontrollable bout may lead to consequences that I did not suspect, such as: fatigue, weight loss, depression, cardiac problems, esophageal reflux and possibly exhaustion and even death (in a person already debilitated by another disease such as AIDS).

Although chances are your hiccups are not dangerous, like all weird things that happen to your body, it is a good idea to consult an MD and workup the underlying cause.

"Some possible casuse of problem hiccups include multiple sclerosis, gstrointestinal problems like obstruction or inflammation, complications of AIDS or side effects of its treatment, nervous system tumors, encephalitis, meningitis; alcoholism, and medications."

i just drink alot of water to get rid of my hiccups it work well for me
