does dried fruit really expand in your stomach?

i've been on a dried fruit kick recently and someone told me not to eat too much because, when mixed with water, it'll expand in my stomach and somethign evil will happen. my urban legend spidey sense went off but i just thought i should check before something awful happens. thanks!
