I wrote an email awhile back to
MTV and got a call this morning.
This lady Lizzie from MTV is doing
a MTV True Life documentary
called Im Bipolar. In my letter i
told her about my preference not
to do drugs or mood stabilizers
because of my straight edge
lifestyle and religon. She wants
to do a report on that in this
series.

Myquestion is, if i appear on this
show, will i get treated differently
by people I do or dont know? Will
i be "that crazy girl from mtv?"will
it effect daily activities or life
activities?

Id like to try to persuade others
to try to control this w/o meds
but if this show will come with
problems, I wont.
I need advice!!!

i give you a lot of credit for going on national television and talking about something that affects u greatly. and i also give u credit for being able to hold off on using meds. thats great. hopefully more than anything people will respect you and give you a lot of credit for doing what you are able to do. not sure if u know but scott weiland from stone temple pilots is also bipolar and does not take meds.

good luck

ANNA - You ask a very difficult question b/c it is impossible to predict the outcome of an MTV special.

It is certain that you will get treated differently especially by people who know you. They may change their opinions about you in either positive or negative ways.

If you feel that you can do good by telling people about your anti-pychotropic drug stance, do it. But only if you feel able to handle some potential harsh fallout.

Given your history, I'd spend a lot of time thinking about your ability to cope with any negative feedback. It would be awful if appearing on a program to help people made you feel worse about yourself.

i couldnt feel any worse about
myself lately... i mean as far as
not helping anyone or doing
anything. I feel like im in a
standstill and not making the
impression in life that I feel I
should.
Im lucky enough to have a small
number of VERY close friends who
are behind me no matter what I
do and what anyone else thinks
is fairly trivial.
Ive decided to do it, I sent my
tape in this morning and I'll let
you know what comes out of it.

ANNA - You are very courageous and must be commended for sharing your experiences with others.

Please keep me posted.
