You must set the ad_network_ads.txt file to be writable (check file name as well).

I just love calling automated phone support systems!

I wandered the annoying electronic phone menus of 2 phone companies today trying to get a live person to straighten out a billing error (I got someone else's bill somehow :) ) Needless to say, to fix a *probably* 10-second keystroke f-up by some data-entry tech, I had to wander the annals of electronic menus and the occasional flesh-and-blood "associate" for 2 hours.

Surprisingly, hold times were only about 5 minutes, but just to get to a live person, you have to wander through several menus anyway.

I don't mind the automated systems when I call for my bank or credit card balances, but when you need to get something changed or fixed, it's a pain in the ass.

Do you love or hate these things?

I know what you mean about those systems. I recently called the IRS and spent about 15 minutes before getting a living soul. I tried other numbers as well and was even more frustrated.

argh I hate and go nuts on them i have been dealing with sony, and microsoft, and godaddy and have only had computers and noo one ever calls back or i am on hold for like 30 muntes and everytime i talk to a human they say its not us it is the other and then so on and so on and so on

If you were trying to call Verizon for your residential bill the New York # is different from the Jersey #, I dont know the Jersey one......It's fucked up because when we call inter-company we dont get a voice menu, we get right into the que........Sorry.
Yes....Voice menus suck a whole lotta ass!!!

I hate it. One time I was trying to get new phone service, and it turned out they woudn't turn on my phone becuase I had an old bill of like $100. So I say "ok I'll pay it right now" But NOOOOOO I have to call a special number to pay it. And that number was consisitently busy 24 hours a day. After calling the regular number again, I was informed that the number to pay my old is is always bus and theres nothing I can do about it, except keep calling. and this is becuase I WANT to pay a bill. asgghghghghg. Gvac I also get the angry black ladies a lot. What is up with that?

The two phone companies I was dealing with were AT&T and Verizon. I got an AT&T bill that wasn't mine, and when I finally got a live person, they told me "that is the information provided by your local phone company for billing." After telling them that its an AT&T bill , not a Verizon, they still insisted I call Verizon. I knew that would be fruitless, but humored the AT&T person. When Verizon (as expected) relayed all the information they had about my service to me, and that they had no way of correcting an AT&T bill, I called AT&T back to wade through the same menus to get a live person again. This time I picked up someone who was able to straighten the whole thing out (albeit I was on the phone with her for about 20 minutes).

I'm never anything but nice to the humans on the other end of the phone, even if they pass the buck or something like what happened here. I work support for a large company, and I know what it's like to be on their side of the line. I just hate that most systems won't give you the option up front to talk to a live person.
