i know its kinda too late to ask this now since ive already done it but i was still wondering what you thought about eloping. me and my b/f eloped this weekend. so you can call me or mrs tire-slasher now. it was a great wedding, we had elvis marry us. We just got up and took a road trip to vegas and now we're married, very hapily i might add. i dont know who we took as our witness, i kinda just grabbed him off a blackjack table on the way to the place we got married at. Im kinda pissed we didnt have a honeymoon but im sure that will come in time. should i have eloped or had one of those fancy weddings? oh did i mention, april fools?

Congratulation!

My fianc‚e and I have struggled with this question for some time now. Eloping would solve the money problem (weddings are so damn expensive) but it'd be nice to have the memories.

I guess this doesn't help huh.

I did what now? I knew I shouldn't have believed her when she said those pills were aspirin. Oh well, now I have to see if I file my taxes as "Married, Filed Jointly" or do I claim her as a dependent, considering she is 12?

In vino veritas

There's a place in the world for the angry young man With his working class ties and his radical plansHe refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl,He's always at home with his back to the wall. And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost,And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross-And he likes to be knowns as the angry young man.

I am such a dork! I actually believed you and I played an April Fools joke myself!

But about the eloping thing ... there is something sexy about running off with the person you love. But I want a wedding ...

I planning it as we speak ... but there's a problem I am having. I NEED A GROOM! ;-)

ok but anyway on this topic this is what i think,of course every person has their own opinion.
A wedding is a very long expensive stressful thing to plan, and by the time the day is there it seemed so fast, I can only speak from my own personal experince, if you cant afford a wedding coordinator and its just you and your beloved..you have todeal with the nosey familytelling you you should dothis and you should do that and yet they wont help lol, its strsseful and expensive as you realize how much your spending on it even on a small wedding and then of course the nerves sometimes pop up...so i say this plan the whole wedding foreveryone to share but i would elope also and not tellthem so at least you can say ok that part of the stress is over with and now lets just plan the wedding.....does that make sense to anyone?

AMY, you didn't fool me for a second, but the question got me thinking. If I had to do it again, I'd forgo the single night of a big wedding and take the cash and put a downpayment on a house.

Some friend's kids are getting married and they're telling me about a "typical" wedding costing in excess of $60,000. Eloping sounds like a damn fine idea.

I'll be back on later. I want to make a subliminal message tape to put in the kids' stereo when they go to sleep! Elope, elope, elope, elope! I hope it works!

i don't know what to do. my fiancee and i have been discussing this for about a year or so. i flip back and forth. eloping would be so much easier and less expensive, but as most women i want the wedding, the attention and everything that goes with it. i want to get both our familys together (here's another problem-my parents hate each other)and he has family out of state and in europe that would want to come. he's the only boy and the youngest and i'm my father's only girl and his first child. any suggestions?

Zathrus,

I think you should consider whether eloping would cause a problem with your family. It may be easier for you and your fiancee to elope, but if both of your families are upset by not having the opportunity to take part in your wedding, that may cause more grief for you over a longer period of time than planning a wedding.

Just my 2›.

ZATHRUS - It may help you to keep it all in perspective. It is your and your fiance's wedding not the wedding of either set of parents. Your wishes should come first.
