my worst nervous habit is.........i bake
cookies'
cupckes

pies

when tazz comes here ill let him explain what i do <P> If Amy is wearing a long sleave shirt, she has to constantly pick at the inside seam of the sleeve cuffs. She seems to enjoy finding lint in there :) <P> I, on the other hand, always play with my shoelaces. I will stick the hard end of it into the lace holes on my shoes. I have no idea why. <P> <P> <P>

There's a big difference betweeen a nervous habit and an obsession. Similarly there's a difference b/w an obsession and obsessive compulsion disease.

All the fidgeting and tics posted here seem to be nothing to be concerned about.

However, Lleeder if you're picking at your skin until you see blood seems like self mutilation which is way more serious than a nervous tic.

How often do you do it? Are you compelled to do it? Can you stop doing it? Do you do it not knowing you do it? Please post and let me know.

Not at all. The snapping is low profile. Thus never seen by anyone.

Been rejected. Nothing new. Not afraid of it. I guess I snap my fingers as a sign to a higher power to keep track of these women so that maybe in the next life I'll be with one of them. It's a pretty big list. I've been snapping since I was a teenager. I have snapped some celebs. I snapped Sue Simmons once.

I bite my nails but, having analyzed when I do it and what's going on around me, I think it's a boredom thing more then a nervous thing. I think it's something to focus on when I'm not focused otherwise. What I do instead is stratch/rub the inside of my left index finger (at the edge where the nail inserts) along my left thumb in a cricket-type motion. Strange but true... <P>

Basically, a person (or animal) will sometimes do something having no relation to what he or she wants to do, as a precurser to doing it, b/c the prior behavior was followed by a desired outcome.

Baseball players, for example, sometimes won't change their sox after they get a hit while wearing a certain pair. Some dogs will circle around before walking outside.

Perhaps the snapping is tied to a positive exerience you had following snapping.
