3/11, I placed an order for the
DVD Dolemite, to be released on
3/19. Expected ship date (that
the website is still listing in 'my
account' for this order?)
3/22-3/29. Well I haven't gotten
it yet. The website lists it as
available, and usually ships in 4-6
days. I sent amazon.com an
email inquiring about this; this is
the response I got:
Thanks for writing to us at
Amazon.com.

I have checked into your order
and found that "Dolemite" has
been released,
also we have found that this has
proven to be a very popular title.
˙We
have many customer orders for
this book, and we've just begun
receiving
copies from our suppliers. ˙We
are filling orders as quickly as we
can on a
first-come, first-served basis.

However, due to excessive
demand for it this item turned out
to be short in
supply and it is currently listed as
a special order and is displayed
on
our web site with this availability
estimate: "This title usually ships
within 3-5 weeks."

We have contacted the publisher
directly to obtain a customer's
copy of
this book, and it is typically
expected to be supplied to us
within 3 to 5
weeks of your order being
placed.

We still expect to be able to
obtain a copy for you and we
apologize for
the delay. ˙Once we receive your
copy from the publisher we will
ship it
to you right away. ˙We will
contact you again via e-mail if we
have any
problem obtaining this title.

Otherwise, on the date of
shipment, we'll send you an
e-mail message
confirming the date, contents and
method of your shipment.

What do you think, am I crazy or
did they NOT look at my order?
dolemite's not a book, and it's
not listed on the site the way the
dude said. Or is it and is my
version of amazon.com just
screwy? what do you think.

also, notice that there is NO
phone number on their website. I
had to ask for it. I already wrote
back, noting that bn.com has it
listed in stock and shipping in 2-3
days, as well as free shipping if I
order two items. I am going to
cancel my amazon.com order
unless they offer me free
shipping or something, you
know? :)

I think its pretty obvious...cancel your order and buy it from somewhere else. Amazon is way to big to be bothered with the individual complaints of its users. You'll be fucking around with them for weeks. Plenty of other e-retailers.

CLEARLY I am going to cancel my
order. But I figured i'd see if i
could get anything out of them
first. I find this all rather amusing.
