I used to be on orthocyclen. It
was fabulous - no moodiness, no
pms, no cramps, no bloating,
nothing.
recently, I went on ortho
tri-cyclen, and it has been very
different. I was really moody for a
week, and it seems to make me
nauseous. I mean to the point of
actually throwing up (twice). It
seems to be abating, but I'll see
if I adjust.
Anyone else have any preference
on their brand of pill??

i've been on a few different types of pills. i'm now on tri-cyclen. i bleed almost as much as i would not being on the pill, and the first few days of it i get nauseaus and light headed. that's something that's always happened to me, though. i also still get cramps, which sucks, but they're not as severe. when i was on ortho-novum i bled a lot less and didnt have cramps, but my period started getting irregular and i'd always worry i was pregnant.
don't you just love being a girl??

Necon is a generic form of Demulen--its less expensive than many others 18 dollars--and the side effects are nothing like you described--I recommend. :)

I have taken both Orthocyclen and Ortho Tri-cyclen...I like them both the same..Although I think I gained weight in the begining from them. But I never got one zit in 5 years..The second I went of the pill my face exploded with zits....So recently my doctor put me on Ovcon35. It's ok but its kinda weird that I only get my period for 2 days and its hardly there at all. I guess I shouldn't complain but that just doesnt seem right.

now THIS is my turf too cute......I was on Depo Provera, which is more effective than the pill....NO period at ALL, you get a shot 4 times a year, its WONDERFUL....but after 4 years, y a start to feel a bit funny, like you almost (am i REALLY saying this??!!!) start to MISS your period. So i then went to orthocyclene, twas OK, though i get Migranes and it was kicking them up really bad....so NOW im On Ortho tri-cyclene.....hang in there sweety, after like 2-3 months, it all fades away. You will get queezy the first moth or 2, but im my experience, it fades and will serve you well!!!! SEX IT UP MY LADY, BE SAFE!!!

SwissMiss you are the best - your
brownies were awesome!!
okay I will hang in there for
another couple of months. Why I
didn't just stay on orthocyclen, I
don't know... but there's no way
I could ever do depo - I would
forget to get my shot!!
now here is something else -
when I was on orthocyclen i'd
just skip my nonactive pills and I
would go for months without my
period but now with the ortho
tri-cylen I'm not sure if that is still
a good idea - anyone know
anything about that??

TooCute..do you mean the very last week of pills? Those are sugar pills..how do you miss your period for months by not taking them? Thats weird. With any pill I have ever been on, I have never taken them and not had a problem...

I mean, you don't take them and
instead go straight to the next
pack - so you're getting a
constant level of hormone. This
actually supposedly reduces your
risk of certain types of cancer
(ovarian or uterine or cervical or
something along those lines, I
imagine you could look it up)
although there haven't really
been any really long term studies
on it.
I never take the last week of pills
I just toss them but with the
orthotri-cyclen I have at least
been simply not taking any pills
for a week rather then skipping
right to the next pack. My gut
tells me that just skipping is
probably fine though.

too cute, sooooo many girls do
that for proms, vacations
etc.....its ok to do that, your body
just thinks its prego for however
long. YOUR controling your
hormone level, not your body...its
ok, but everything in moderation

SM - I mean I used to do it all the
time I know its fine I'm just a
little hesitant with whether
orthotricyclen is the best pill to
do that with since it uses varying
levels of different hormones
throughout the course of three
weeks know what i mean?

Ladies, talk to your doctors-there's a new contraceptive called Nuva Ring, I'm liking it a lot-you insert it like a diaphragm, it's a small ring. It contains a very low dosage of Estrogen & Progestin, much lower than any pill w/same effectiveness. I can't even feel mine. You put it in, leave it in for 3 weeks, and take out for one week. Then you insert a new one. It's easy and you're protected within 5 days of inserting the first ring. Check it out.
