how long do you have to be on
medication before it is possible to
suffer the side effects?

two weeks ago, the doctor put
me on allegra-d for sinus
problems. everything was going
fine for 6 days, then i developed
a terrible headache. nothing that
i took would get rid of this
headache, which i had for a
week.

ZATHRUS - Every medicatioin is different. Some have a relatively immediate effect, others take 2 weeks or longer to build up an effect.

Allegra-d reaches maximum effectiveness just 6 hours after ingestion, and 2 hours after ingestion once you've been on it for a short while.

You might be interested to know that in clinical trials, headaches was the primary side effect. 13% of participants had to withdraw from the trial when on 120mg b/c of headaches. Surprisingly, the figure was almost as high (11.5%) when the dosage was halfed to 60 mg.

Insomnia and nausea were the second and third most common adverse reaction forcing people to stop taking the drug.

Your headaches on the medication are therefore not unusual. The headaches should not reoccur since you are no longer on the meds.
