Friday Night's drawing for the multi-state Big Game lotto is now...

I was wondering who was playing here, how much you spend, and if you use quick pick or chose your own numbers.

And after that, what you'd use the money for.

Me? New Thunderbird. House in Arizona. Lear Jet to fly my friends to and from Arizona.

And one big-ass RonFez.net party. :)

i get CRUSHED when i don't win. i only spend like 5 bucks and i use quick pick but i wanna seriously cry when i don't win.

i would quit my job, give my friends like 100,000 each, go on vacation for a month in amsterdam, and live off the interest for the rest of my life. and i'd pay my way to become a characer on ron and fez.

And one big-ass RonFez.net party. Ditto I play about $10-$20 depending on the size of the prize then I choose cash (lump sum) and if I win I would choose anonymity. I would stay at my job till my boss pissed me off (happens every day). I would then move to Arizona never to be heard from again. <P>

I'd take it over the 20-25 years they paid it. It would give me something to look forward to. I probably wouldn't quit working, although I'd find something closer to home, even at a low rate of pay.

I'd have a few parties, buy a better car, and get that turboprop for quick jaunts around the country...

Wilee:

Never EVER do annuity for the one simple reason...

You have no idea how much your money is going to be worth 25 years down the road.

Example: In 1977, 100,000 meant a lot more than in 2002.

So your money will devalue A LOT by the time the annuity is over.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS take the lump sum. Save half, live off the interest.

I'd invest it towards my goal of buying my own personal island and making it an independent country called Sunnytopia, where we would always have jello available for all who came to visit.

I'm driving to Jersey tomorrow for the express purpose of dropping $5 on the Big Game.

I better win.

I would buy the cat farm i've been dreaming of all my life, just me and the cats

Then there would be the secondary income when you harvest the cats for meat and sell it to Bronx Chinese Restaurants.

I am buying my tickets today before work. I would by a nice house in the Carolinas on the beach some where and play golf all of the time.

We want Ron and Fez live in DC.

So your money will devalue A LOT by the time the annuity is over.It may or may not devalue. The thing is, if you take the lump sum (cash option) you don't get the full $200,000, you get the amount in the pool at the time (which is usually closer to half the prize amount).

So a lump sum of $100,000, take out taxes (assume 35% or better) and let the $65 mil sit in a bank, I think you would be in the same boat there as if you were to take it as an annuity. Plus, it prevents me from blowing the whole wad in a short period of time.

I've got $5 in a pool at work. I'll buy another $5-$10 worth of tickets for myself. I have one set of numbers that I always play. The rest are quick picks. I usually don't play the Big Game until the jackpot is over $30 million.

Nobody hit it. The jackpot is up to $300 million now.
