I was in Burlington Coat Factory today, just browsing.

For some reason, I ended up in the underwear section. There's a very specific brand of boxer briefs I like, and I was looking at some of the packages.

I was standing right by the employee entrance, and a woman walks up.

"Do you need any help, sir?" she asks.

Me: "No, not really. Just looking."

"Well, sir, all the <b>big and tall</b> items are over there."

OH MY GOD.

Anyone who knows anything about me is that the words I never EVER wanted to hear associated with my wardrobe was "big and tall".

Needless to say, I freaked out. And I really gave the woman a piece of my mind.

Hey, I'm a tall guy (I'm sure Tall_James talkes the record for this board, though) and I have to buy some things in the "big and tall" section. They're just two clothing "sizes"lumped together, but they're not saying anything other than "you're tall."

I have been that employee. I didn't mean to be. I felt awful!

I worked in a store that sold women's running/workout gear. The industry, in general, sizes things ridiculously small. A lot of times, my boss would not buy certain lines because even "Large" was too small for the average woman.

Anyway, this larger woman comes in and says she needs leggings. So I automatically head toward the X-Large rack when she says, "Oh no, I'm a medium."

I told my boss afterwards and she said, "Don't feel bad-- I've shown women maternity gear when they weren't pregnant.

Don't take it personally, Ten. I've met you-- you're a tall guy.

Send them this way! I'm getting sick of wearing the same clothes. I gotta have my Big Dog shirt! Even though they chose the ugliest dog!! What the hell is that thing? Looks like a cross between a Bloodhound, Dalmation and St.Bernard. Nice sig by the way!

I didn't want to start a new thread... but how many people HATE HATE HATE foreign -based call centers?

I spent an HOUR on the line with Elizabethtown Gas trying to get a FAX NUMBER.
The call center was based in India and I spoke to three reps before I found one who was able to speak coherently and understand exactly what I was asking for without speaking to twelve supervisors.

Very frustrating.

a guy comes in asking for maternity wear the other day

and i says to him that the plus sizes are over there

he laughs real hard for a few minutes then thanks me and tells me that if he brought that home for his wife that hed be sleeping on the couch for like a year.

OH, I see. Funny thing I can add here. I work at a call center. That is run by Indians, who outsource to us, Phoenix.


Its so funny when people call in and start praising me for my english speaking skills and bashing on Indians cause they could be/are listening.

I just got off the phone with one of my credit card companies.
See, I switched to using my online bill pay through my bank last month and apparently they take longer than paying directly on the site. Who knew? I do now.
So that made my payment a day late and I went from 0% APR to 18.99 and was charged like $90 in late fees and interest. Boo to that.
In less than 4 minutes the card was reset to 0%, the charges were waived, and I had phone sex with the representative.
Fantastic. (yes, I will keep an eye on it to make sure it goes through.)
I almost feel guilty for the fact that I'll be transferring the balance to a new card in a month before the introductory 0% ends.
