So last night, I knocked a 2 liter bottle of root beer onto my keyboard. Fortunately, the kids didn't see me break the cardinal rule of computers - no drinks w/in 10 feet.

Surprisingly, this little bath caused the keyboard to stop working (I'm typing this on the kids computer).

I called Dell, told them what happened and they said they'd get a new keyboard out to me w/in 3-5 days. Pretty amazing considering it was my fault.

If anyone is contemplating purchasing a new computer I recomend Dell wholeheartedly.

Awww ... that's very nice of them! ;-)

Maybe you should become the new guy in that commercial, instead of that damn pain in the ass kid!

No thanks king. I go for gaming performance. Dell isn't really a gamers pc and to make it one would cost a bundle. How is the tech support by the way. That's very important to me.

I've heard Dell has really good customer service, but I have to say, as a computer technician, I see them coming into the shop fairly often, mostly with software errors. But they're definitely a pretty good machine. The only PC I don't recommend are the Systemax/Global PC's built to be sold on the Home Shopping Network. No joke, about half the business I've done in the last three months, is warranty work on those machines.

I've done work on Dell's as well. One of my co-workers worked on the configuration of our setup and got about 10-15 machines for the rollout. Many of them had loose connections (HD, PCI cards, etc) and a few had bad riser boards (few out of 10-15 is not a good percentage). Granted, you can get a situation like that from any other major dealer as well, (Compaq, HP, Sony, etc) but its nice to see that you got one of the "good eggs" on the other end of the phone. I have gotten some real stinkers from time to time.

I knocked a 2 liter bottle of root beer onto my keyboardIf this were an '80s movie, your computer would now be:
a) trying to steal your girlfriend
b) creating a magical woman in her panties, or
c) trying to convince your microwave to kill you

My Dell is a great little machine...
It does what I want it to when I want it to...

Plus, Its got this great cup holder that comes out when you press this little button...Cup holders are so cool...But where is the CD rom player on this thing?

:)

Compaq replaces stuff all the time, but it just takes an hour to actually talk to a human.
