The sports junkies are currently on from 7-11pm on WJFK here in DC. Perhaps R&F could be live soon?

"Junks To DC101? - 4/20 - The "Sports Junkies" are talking to other area radio stations now that their contract has come due at Infinity's WJFK-FM, DCRTV hears. And Clear Channel rocker DC101 has been mentioned as a serious possibility, with the Junks occupying the PM drive slot. While the Junks' ratings have suffered a bit on JFK of late, we hear most of the blame is being placed on their weak 106.7 lead-in, "Opie And Anthony." Westwood One (owned by Viacom with Infinity) just announced that it's terminating its syndication deal for the evening sports talk team. However, our DC101 sources says their suits still have ample confidence in current PM drive man Jon Ballard. Stay tuned....."

God that would be great to get Ron and Fez live.

The Junkies suck. They'd fit in perfectly with the lame Eliot morning show on DC101.

DC101 plays nothing but a box of records all day, except for that elliot show in the morning. Most people here in DC think he is really lame... They are going to be commiting radio 'suicide' by putting the 'junks' on their station. Come on, who is their GM??? Their target demo is kids 12-22 or somewhere around that. These kids are not going to want to listen to a sports show... There are tons of different stations they could go to..... But Why DC101....... 
Ron and Fez live though would be great....

Man that would be awesome, they dont end until like 3am and i usually fall asleep before the end of the show. I really hope they start coming on live. Sports Junkiez arent that funny.

I'm torn about this....on the one hand, I very much want Ron & Fez live. But then again, I do like the Junkies....personally, I think they're the best local show here in D.C.

Ultimately, though, I guess I'd rather have R&F live. Although I think it's kind of silly to blame the Junkies' low ratings on O&A. O&A have been improving, but that's besides the point; the Junkies have never done super in the ratings. Still, if they leave, I will miss them. I love R&F, and I'd love them live, but I always enjoy Eric Bickel talking about porn. :p

If we somehow managed to get R&F live here in D.C. again I'd male-W.O.W. a busload of nuns...The Junkies are fun, but they've become the G. Gordon of the station in that they just don't fit in the lineup at all...it would be pretty painful if they went over to DC 101 since then they'd have to keep company with that mook hyena Elliot...but still, then I'd at least be able to call R&F under about a billion name again...haven't been able to get in touch with the boys since the Baby days...

lmao. Yea i think that is one of the reasons i dont listen to Elliot in the Morning that much, his laugh is very hyenic. did i just invent a new word?

The Junkies are nice guys but I would love to have Ron and Fez live from 7-11. I don't think the junks will do well on dc 101.

We want Ron and Fez live in DC.

Since everyone wants to speculate lets get some facts in here:
1. During the last book that just came out the junkies were again #1 in the key demographics in D.C. with a score in the key males 18-34 with a 17.4 which is phenomenal #'s
2. They are up for contract negotiations but are not discussing where they may go because they want to stay at WJFK.
3. The ratings for the show are consistently strong with one bad book in the summer of last year which coincided with the stations format change.
For speculation:
I would say it is more likely that the junkies are going to be live in N.Y. from 7-11 then Ron and Fez being on from 7-11 live in D.C.
Perhaps R&F will be put in the morning slot on WNEW to replace Ferrell but it is very unlikely that R&F will be on live in D.C. because the ratings the junkies got are out of this world and ron and fez would never approach those numbers in D.C.
Besides do they deserve the live spot here. I dont think so the junkies are consistently funnier, know what they are talking about and dont spend 30 minutes on one bit and then spend 30 on the next. For instance the 30 minutes of enduring new commandments was god awful and very repetitive. Bring Back Joe Poo

Since everyone wants to speculate lets get some facts in here:

Not being confrontational, but no one here is speculating. That was a direct quote from DCRTV, so if anyone was speculating it was them.

The junkies HAVE lost their syndication deal with Westwood One and if Clear Channel signed them I doubt they would stay with WJFK, a westwood one station.
I don't understand why they would want to stay at WJFK when they could go to clear channel and get a lot more money with a syndication deal?
With all that said, I have a feeling that they will end up staying at WJFK though.

Ron and Fez are definitely in for a change. Opie spoke today about "major changes" occuring at NEW due to the poor ratings the station received this month. R&F are probably going to move yet again and the Junkies' situation might come into play as well.

well as long as WJFK still aires ron and fez between 3pm and 3am i dont care where they move to. If they move them into the don and mike slot from 11-3 then i will be very angry cause im in school all day and i dont get home until 3. they should just get rid of don and mike and ferrall and eddie trunk and just let O&A and RnF do 12 hour shows.

If the Junkies leave WJFK, look for Don to put a "Best of Don & Mike" show on in their time slot, furthering his goal to make 106.7 all Don & Mike, all the time. Or maybe he'll just do the inevitable and give his whore wife Frieda her own show.

The Junkies have 3 weeks left on their contract....if I was them, I'd head for the hills. Go to a clear channel for more money & syndication. They'll no doubt stay at WJFK, out of some twisted sense of loyalty to the station and to Don Geronimo, although they should realize that he'll only end up running their careers into the ground to further his own ego trip.

I don't see the Junkies being syndicated to WNEW....their show is just TOO local. I love the guys, but their show is EXTREMELY D.C. / Maryland centric. While I think the NYC listeners would probably be more receptive to them than they have been to D&M, the show most likely wouldn't do that well because it would just be too "non-NYC". It's really a shame too, that a show HAS to have a NY flavor for it to succeed in the city, but that's the way it goes I guess.

We can't get R&F live because a) the Junkies have the current time slot, and b) see Geronimo, Don. Donnie G is the program director for WJFK, and even though there's a bullshit line about him being "friends" with R&F, he's nothing of the sort. I can't begin to tell you how the show is BUTCHERED here. It's edited horribly, they'll break up the show IN THE MIDDLE of bits to insert commercials, and frequently - and I'm not lying here, as other D.C. listeners have confirmed this as well - the board op running the tape delay show will actually play Don & Mike sound drops (I know this, because some of the drops are easily recognizable) during the R&F broadcast.

And most of us are Orioles fans down here. I can't speak for all D.C. / Maryland / VA natives, but personally I'd smile the smile of the contented if I woke up tomorrow to find that all Yankees players had developed a severe case of genital warts.

well well well...o&a in the junkies replay slot? This calls for, a Fezatorial... More seriously is this the first time this has happened? I don't hear the replay during the week, 5am comes too early. Given the content of this thread this seems to be a further indication of the Junkies ultimate demise at JFK.

hey captain s., don and mike replaced the junkies in overnight replay about a month ago. very rarely has o-n-a been in this spot. it was a nice treat when I heard 'em come on. :)

How have R&F's ratings been. I've never heard anyone break them up. Males 18 - 25 etc. If I heard correctly they haven't fallen. I think they are holding steady. They should be given credit for what ever rating number they get. They WNEW has shuffled them around they have to find a new audience every time. This excludes people on this board who are hardcore fans. It also wouldn't hurt if O&A could say R&F next ALL the time at the end of their show.
