Well sci-fy, I am involved with someone (not maried) and I am NOT happy.

I live in Jersey, she lives in Chicago, we have been going on like this for 2 years...

You know, its the same old story, boy meets girl in college, you get along fine, you love each other, you spend 4 great years together, you stay in the crappy college town that you are in until she gets her masters while you work a crammy job, eventually you get a better job, you help her with her homework and grade the tests of her students because she's a teaching assistant, then she gets a great job in Chicago (4 hours drive from where you live and work), you can't quit your job because other people's jobs depend on yours, a year later your company decides to re-locate to NJ... you are still on the same dilema, if you quit your job 3 friends loose their jobs, if you don't you move half a country away from your honey, and two years later someone asks you if you are happy being with someone...

Its the same old story, I'm sure it happened a million times before.

And just to top it all off, I am away (VERY far away) from my family (I'm from Spain), and since she has all this hangups about virginity you haven't gotten laid in 4 years... (I know, we've been going out for 6 years, and believe me she knows, and I am paying for it...)

So, sci-fy I don't think that being with some one or not has much to do with hapiness, I think its got more to do with where you are at in your life, meaning: do you have good relationships with your "significant other", friends, familly, co-workers, etc, or do you drink too much, sleep too little, and barely have contact with anyone on the real world?

Anyway, sorry about the rant but sometimes you just have to let some of the steam out or you can blow...

And may I add, I used to have a long dist. relationship we both worked hard to keep it going, it lasted 2 years but eventually it ended, but we're still good friends... so, i whish you luck Orallo, you'll be needing it :)

the only that sucks about being single is if your friends are with people.. I was a happy single person throughout college while my friends at school and home all had signifigant others.. being single is fun you can do what you want with not having to hear shit from anyone... the only problem i have is now that i have gotten a girlfriend all my friends have broken up with their girlfriends.. so i am again on the outside looking in... single in an area where there are others like is great.. single and in a secluded area is rough.. but if you are misrable alone then you will be misrable with a girlfriend..

i've been single for four years and at time i feel pissed off and sad but my social life overall has dramatically improved. (not only by vistiting this board)

I'm happy sometimes that im single since i dont have to buy any girl shit or the couple "sort" of thing.

...i am still trying this casual sex thing. how does it work? ;)

well if i get into a serious relationship at this point of my life (halfway point thru college) i dont think i'd be ready to handle it. maybe a less serious one if there is such a thing.

I am single, and notto happy with it. I am single by choice though, see I amthe kinda guy who believes thatif i am in a relationshipI would want to bethere for her when she needed me. And i workthe overnight and it stinks cause when i go to sleep she is awak when i am awake she is asleep, When i goto bed i would like to hold her and when i wake up i want her to be the first person i see. BUt iwas in relationship and i ended it over a year ago cause I felt i could not be there for her inthose times, and thought she deserved better so ithought it was fair for her so i broke up with her so she could find someone whocould be there for her. It bumms me out sometimes cause ido feel alone,and yeah sometimes its good but it gets to me alot though.But like i said its bymychoice, once i get off this shift I then could concentrate fairly on a relationship but until then i will stay alone

I am single and happy. I wouldn't mind being in a relationship though. I like being in relationships. But, I would never be in a relationship just so I can feel wanted or whatever. I'd rather stay single.

I'm single and ~content. I have a f'd up schedule from time to time, night meetings and other things that get scheduled that keep me moving around (I HATE SATURDAY MEETINGS!) which can make it hard to hang out with friends and go out with people.

Orallo- I know the pains of a long-distance relationship. When I was in college, I hooked up with a girl from Staten Island. I lived only about an hour away, but you sort of had to "plan your time together", especially since she worked in the city, and I had both school and work to contend with. I was a fairly trusting person, and eventually found out that she was hooking up with plenty of other guys. Well, I was upset about it, but I moved on. I hope your relationship works out better.

I'm single and pretty comfortable with it. I have spent more than a quarter of my life in relationships, and I'm only 23. Going out and meeting new folks is fun. I'll need to procreate at some point, but that's a ways off for a young buck like myself.
