What drug is Billy Staples taking that makes him believe that four women are throwing themselves over his fat drunk ass!
I believe that Billy tries hard to make himself the life of the party and he tries to show everyone he's happy so he can hide his pain.

I think its Zanax or some or another. One girl admitted to flirting with him, for what reason I dont know, thats her business not ours. Personally a 20 year old going after a 50 something year old is kinda sickening!Billy is old enough to be her father for gods sakes!. But really Its none of my business so thats that I guess.............

It makes perfect sense. Billy makes loads of money, is in really great shape, and has a terrific haircut.

Billy has mentioned on air that he is taking xanax and celexa.
Billy is starting to feel good about himself once again. All positive experiences he has, are being filtered through the newly crafted rose colored glasses. This is a temporary and necessary phase and is not likely to last.

You didn't have to take my question literally, HK. I know what he's on.
I think that the stuff he's taking is giving him a "fake smile" and he's still sad underneath.
So he has to keep taking these drugs constantly or he'll go back to being sad billy.
So instead of being a booze hound, he's a xanax freak.
I think that if the guy constantly excercised, the chemicals in his body would up his spirits naturally.
Am I wrong?

VEGETTA - You're laboring under a false assumption, namely that anti-depresants are "happy pills." They are not. They give the person who takes them when medically necessary opportunity to act and react in a way that they would ordinarily if their brain chemistry hadn't been a little out of line.
I believe Billy is where he is now, as part of the normal course of therapy. However, he is at a crucial junction when he has reached an understanding about things that have been bothering him, but he has not yet replaced these things with new (healthier) defense mechanisms.
Regarding your second inquiry, exercise releases endorphins, natural chemicals that make you feel good. Exercise is terrific for depression but it is very difficult for a depressed person to overcome their lethargy and actually get out and exercise.

Yes, but isn't the drugs forcing happiness on Billy?
Isn't happiness created by a special event or moment, not a pill?
Maybe I can't understand a pill having control over my smile.

As always, Horde King tells it like it is.
Billy's Celexa & Xanax are needed to stabilize his combo recklessness & listlessness. These pills will at least stablize him enough to take a shot at the hard work of achieving happiness. If left untreated, his condition will worsen and no doubt cause greater pain/disturbances to Billy, his friends, family, & certain radio talk show hosts.
Bipolar disorder has no cure but it can be managed.

Whatever Billy's on, I want some. If it can make him that dillusional, then it can carry me through a weekend without remembering how many young nurses I've deflowered.

HordeKing...Why does Billy insist that I am in love with him? Why won't he leave me alone? Its driving me mad that he says I am going to be with him when Dan loses this stupid fight. Who is he to say that I am just going to drop everything I have and come running to him...CRAZY!
edit..I understand Billy is trying to make good radio with this lame ass bit but come on, this is all he could come up with???

i don't think billy is so much delusional as he is purposefully making himself look like an ass for the show. He does these things because its funny, and because it gets us marks to talk about it on message board threads.
as for the medicine, Vegeta: the stuff he's on isn't so much forcing happiness on him like unperscribed drugs as they are helping his body produce what normal bodies produce, but his does not. that's what a chemical imbalance is. Think of it as a sort of a suppliment for what he can't make on his own.

I'm sure that Billy's true feelings are exaggerated for the radio. But they are still true feelings.
I believe Billy's insistence that you're after him is at least in part, a transitory defense mechanism that he needs following the rejection by his wife. By having any number of women after him, he can believe that he is still desireable and attractive to women. This is not the final stage of his "metamorphasis". He still has far to go. However, he is certainly better now than when he began therapy and he will continue to improve.
Gina, an equally compelling question is how you feel about being tossed around like a prize to be one by the victor in a stupid boxing match. Talk about the ultimate in objectification!
