your not alone on that one! i as well as half the planet have struggled with weight loss. I wanted to try a quick fix and tried researching these diet products on line..the only thing i came away with is that IT DOESNT WORK. Some products hit you with stimulants that increase your heart rate and therefore your metablosim, but that didnt sound healthy to me and i didnt see feeback that it works. So why cant i just lose weight the only way you CAN lose weight? by eating less calories and excersise..is because eating is emotional for alot of people, just like drinking is for alcoholics. Ive come to the conclusion that the only way to deal with the issues, eat right and get excersise without losing it, is to join a 12 step program or weight watchers which make you accountable to other people, and provide you with a support system. i havent dont it yet but id like some input also from HK or anyone else who suffers from being overweight. <P>

I used to be fat, now i'm not really. I still have a little spare tire but you wouldn't tell looking at me.
Slow and steady wins the race. Consistent progress is the key to long term results. It has to come from within you. It's true that eating is an emotional thing. So is discipline and willpower.
There's a million pills and programs that promise the world, claim that you don't need any willpower at all... "ya eat what you want, you just eat less of it!" Ring any bells? These are clever marketing ploys that cash in on popular fads & belief systems. Fat is bad, then fat's good and carbs are bad, then chitin is the new holy water, and the cycle repeats. They're not really grounded on solid scientific evidence or proven, healthy, long-term fitness programs. Sure they may work in the short-term, but I'd love to see people on these gimmicks in 2, 3, 10 years.
Everyone knows the real key to losing fat: a proper, well-balanced diet + regular exercise. But noone wants to face it; people are making every excuse in the book to keep from working to achieve their goals. Well guess what? It only comes with hard work. Some people are blessed with great genetics and are naturally thin or fit or muscular; the rest of us have to bust our asses.
A support system helps, especially in the beginning. Sometimes we need someone to steer us in the right direction, kick our butts into gear a little and instill some of the inspiration and discipline we severely lack. Once it becomes a routine though, you will find that the discipline comes easier, the pounds drop off quicker, and you may be in a position to help others too. Only when you get to know your own body well, can you follow it and know how to give it what it needs.
Some good starting points of support are personal trainers, nutritionists, running groups, aerobics classes, and weight-training partners.

JONQEU - I hate to tell you the hard cold facts.
The only way to lose weight is to burn off more calories than you ingest. The only effective way of doing this is by eating less and by exercising. (Muscle tissue burns up more calories than anything else.)
These fad diets, pills, tonic, voodo dolls, goat sacrifices to chango, do nothing except make your wallet lighter.
You have to diet and exercise to lose weight.
