Ouch, that's rough. Didn't you just witness a neighbor's house burn down? I hope the lady was in good enough condition that she was going to make it out ok.

Awful for anyone to see.

The thing that may shock you the most is if it's NOT in the paper tomorrow. Most accidents, even fatalities aren't considered newsworthy - except on slow newsdays.

Let me know if you want to talk about it.

SEXY - It's OK to have these feelings. In fact, it wouldn't say much about your humanity if you didn't have these emotions.

You've seen a traumatic, horrible sight, the probable death of a woman and that image is seared into your brain. Eventualy it will fade, but it will not and should not disappear forever.

The horrible things you saw on that day may make you the compassionate caring person of tomorrow. Who knows what life and career choices you will make based upon this seminal moment in your life.

Again, if you want to talk privately, please let me know

I know how you feel. 5 years ago I was living in Brooklyn. It was a dark rainy night and an older woman was walking between two parked cars on the street. She got hit by a car doing about 40 mph and was knocked out of her shoes. I was the only one there in the vicinity, walking home from the store. I ran to her, and knew it was over. I tried to comfort her, didnt know what to do so I held her and said the Lord's Prayer out loud to her and told her everything would be OK. Cops and firemen came 5-10 minutes later (it seemed like hours) but she died right there. To this day I still am totally f'd up thinking about it, having someone die with me right there and not being able to do a damn thing about it.

Please, if it gets to be too much to deal with, talk with someone. A family member, a friend, a counselor....anyone. Trust me...it helps.

Almost 10 years ago now, my friends mom was walking across the street and was struck by a car, killing her instantly.
Look at it this way, this women has more of a fighting chance than Mrs. Emerson ever did. To handel hard shit, what works for me is placing any negative"sceen"on a train and I watch it going away, leavng me further & further behind, safe and ok.
