How many is a few?

Dear HK,

I was talking with Ari about how many cars her parents have, and she said, "a few." I asked how many that was, and she said, "3." Now, there's no WAY that a "few" is three, right? I could cut her some slack if it was four, which is close to a few, but a few is, at minimum, five or six. Any more than that and it's "several."

One- one or single
Two- a pair, double, a couple
Three- three
Four- four
Five, Six- a few
Seven to Nine- Several

Am I wrong in this? I defer to your omniscience.

in my humble opinion, a few is either 3 or 4. for example:

1 - one
2 - a pair, couple
3, 4 - a few
5, 6 - a bunch
7-9 - several

I was taught that "a few" meant "more than two" For some reason, I remember being taught that in grade school.
