The people behind the broadcasters on the news.

Have you ever noticed the people that sit behind the broadcasters on CBS news? They do it on other networks as well. But I've always wondered if they are actually working back there. Is that were they go in the morning when they first come into work....like is the studio their office, or do they only start working there when the news broadcast actually starts?

OR are they just a background?

I always wondered that...even as a child. I guess I just never thought of asking such a bizarre question.
