Not Live in D.C.

The Sports Junkies have re-upped with WJFK in D.C. for 3 years at their current timeslot from 7-11.
The Junkies who in their last ratings book drew a 18.7 for the males 18-25 and a 13.4 for males 18-34 are a big hit with the sales staff and the key demographic regions the junkies clearly dominate.
So, R&F will still be on from 11-3 which is fine with me since i'm driving home from work at this time anyway

I hate the Sports Junkies I think that there boring banter about which team they are currently supporting sucks. I also hate how they have been using the same catch phrases for over 5 years, and they still calim to be cutting edge. <P>
Also the Junkie are retarded, they have no knowledge of anything outside of sports. <P>
I hope they all get cancer and come home to find their wives gettign the high hard one from a brother. <P>

Ive been teaching myself to like the junkies cause i need somehting to listen to rom 7-11. I do like RnF on late nights 11-3 like they are now, but i sometimes fall asleep before the end of the show since i gotta get up at 6 for school. but come summertime in 2 weeks it will not be a problem. The junkies havent been that bad lately. I'de rather have RnF on live though.

WJFK made the right move bringing O&A live to DC and they couldn't follow through with Ron and Fez.

As much as I want R&F live on WJFK, I didn't want The Junkies to leave...with maybe half of each show about sports at best, they keep my interest, they're pretty funny, and they're really nice guys...I've met all of them at various times here in the DC area, and each one was really cool when meeting fans...a rare thing with DC radio personalities...

AJ the reason is is the numbers that the junkies bring into D.C.
And lets face it would R&F be succesful in D.C. at that time slot i think the answer to that is no. The humor they have and the implied reference of Fez being gay just would not be a hit with the people of D.C.
Another reason that i doubt it would be succesful is the same reason it has taken so long for O&A to catch on as much as it has is that O&A and R&F could give dick about the D.C. fans (admittedly R&F have less of a stake since they arent live) but would they mold their show to be less N.Y. centric and more generalized? I doubt it because O&A still dont do it.
While i like R&F JFK did the right think in keeping the Junkies live in D.C. they have put in the work and deserve it.

I have also met those guys,
& you are right, they are all about the fans. Awesome young lads.

Even tho they did a bit on
" the typical RF fan" last night, they were kewl & smart enuff to do it at 10:55-- minutes before rf come on.

The books in D.C. only go till midnight i believe because that is when the most ad space is sold until that time. The junkies last book actually was from 7-midnight and included the 1st hour of R&F for the ratings.
Also the junkies dont deal with sports 100% of the time its more like 50% sports 50% b.s. ing.
One of the recent events they did was the Great American Porno Swap where listeners could bring in their old pornos and swap with ones other listeners brung with them.
They also recently had a porn star on the show for a few segments and she was great but her intros she taped for them were raw and uncut. If you think sweet melissas were good this porn star takes melissa up about 50 notches.
And let me tell you guys in N.Y. something if the sports junkies took sorry ass ferrells spot you all would be happy because the junkies are money donkies

I hear you Knowleged One but I'm pissed because 1) since we in DC don't get the show live we can't participate by calling in and 2) because I have to wake up at 0530 for work, I can only hear the first hour or so of the rebroadcast.

While I would love to have R&F live in D.C., I'm not that tore up about this news. I genuinely like the Junkies. They're a great local show.

And for those of you not familiar with them, they don't cover sports explicitly. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the only time their show really drags or is boring is when they DO talk about sports. I'd much rather hear Eric Bickel talk about the latest porno he bought than hear Lurchie drone on about baseball stats.

It boggles my mind, how a sports-themed show could draw better ratings than RnF in any market.

I would like RnF to be on live, but i have to agree with knowledged one. I used to hate the junkies but since i heard they were gonna be around for another 3 years i decided to give them a listen, and their not to bad. and they hardly talk about sports at all. they spend maybe a half hour total on sports and the rest is just bs funny stuff.
