Ive just come back from my first yr of college- back to Brooklyn- back to the city- back to my life before september.
I thought it would be like seeing a firmiliar old friend but everything feels weird to me and cold, and I just wanna go back to school and work my ass off to disguise it .
Is there a post semester syndrome or something? why do I feel like theres so much different?

I know what you mean. I moved back to my hometown a few years ago and I didn't know anyone here anymore. It was very weird. Now I just can't wait to get out again, just like before.

i had a similar experience when i went home after my first year of college. my best friends ended up commuting, and i was the only one who went away. i definitely changed a lot, and my friends couldnt understand why i liked to go out drinking now (we never drank in high school) and were "shocked" by some of the stories i told from college. i eventually got tired of feeling as if there were something wrong with me and moved on. i hardly talk to any of my high school friends now. and to be honest, i really dont miss them.

I went to my 10 year HS reunion in 1995. I walked up to one of the popular, yet extremely snotty girls and said, "Oh good, I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who's gained weight since graduation."

And I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

ANNA - What you're describing isn't unusual.

Part of the weirdness that you feel in your old familiar haunts is a reflection of your growing maturity and different outlook on life.

So yes, there is something different and it is within you. This is entirely normal.
