IQ Tests

HordeKing- My friends and I were talking about IQ's the other day and it got me thinking. I figured there would be some online tests because I have never taken one and did'nt know what my IQ was. Well, I don't think the Internet tests are very accurate, b/c I had a pretty high score :) (Higher than I really think it is) So, how accurate are IQ tests? What type of intellect are they supposed to evaluate and how can I find out what mine is reliably? Thanks!

There is considerable disagreement about what IQ measures. Some say it's an objective level of intelligence, others regard it as a potential for intelligence. Still others place no faith in them, noting that the tests tend to result in a way as to give advantages to white males.

Personally, I think that IQ is a valuable tool for measuring intelligence but it alone doesn't tell the whole story. A person with an 80 IQ will never function in the same capacity as a person with an IQ of 140. The difference among people with IQ's of 100 and 110 seems pretty minimal to me.

The internet IQ tests are not particularly reliable. If you want to test yourself go with the old reliable Stanford Binett.
