View Full Version : Why O&A respect RnF

Today on D+M they mentioned RnF ass kissing O&A... and I would like to respond to this in and why exactly O&A see Rnf as non threatening.

(plus I am bored at work and have time to write this)

A while back when O&A were battling with the Radio Chick and D+M, Opie made a very clear statement on why he does not have a problem with RnF.

it was a while ago, so please forgive some of the inaccuracies, but here is what I remember

Opie said that in an all talk format MANY of the same topics will be discussed throughout the day. Any type of major news (ex: Chandra Levy) will be dicussed and made into a bit on each and every show (and including Stern on K-Rock)

So it makes it difficult to do fresh, original bits when EVERYOne is doing it.

Opie made it very clear he felt the Radio Chick and D+M were very similar in the way they handled current event bits... which isn't good for the station... who wants to hear the same S for 12 hours???

He made it a point to say RnF were differnet. The way they handle these types of stories was very unique from O&A's style.

Basicly saying a RnF bit on a current event topic is much different than O&A's and most importantly STILL VERY FUNNY!!!!

Opie suggested that D+M and the Radio Chicks bits were just watered down versions of what they were doing... and therefore did not fit the station.

O&A respect RnF... and have since there Dot.com days. They appreciate there style, how they run there show, and there experience in the radio business. That is why they are more than happy to go on there show and welcome them into theres. They recognize the comedic talents of RnF.

D+M are two fat jealous pigs that will never have the talent or the true comedic sense RnF have or O&A have.

And that is my take on D+M cheap shots on the boys.

There is nothing more exhilerating than pointing out the shortcomings of others, is there?

O&A respect Ron & Fez because they know true talent when they see it. R&F are the funniest, most original radio show out there today, and anybody who doesn't like them is a "Silly Simon."

don and mike suck big fat hairy sweaty donkey blue balls. (now tompoo's starvin)

sure o and a think ron and fez are funny, but they're also friends. i know it sounds impossible in this buisness, and when it comes down to it of course they look out for each other.

but they like each other, respect each other, and continue to put on the best radio out there.

I think alot of it has to do witht he comedic styles. Both O&A and R&F have contrasting hosts.

Opie is very dark with his humor, while Ant is an impressionist. Opie is more of a radio guy while Ant is just hanging out and having fun. Opie knows when things aren't working and is the one who tends to cut a bit off early.

R&F also have contrasting styles. Ron is more of a sarcastic wit, whereas Fez is more over the top. Both have a good sense of radio and play off each other really well.

D&M seem to come from the same place and don't contrast each other. Which means if one of them isn't your type of humor, then there's nowhere else on that show to go. Even when they do impressions, it remains within the same vein of straight humor.

The Chick's show had some contrast, but was very rigid. The Chick was a decent conversationalist, and occassionally her sidekicks were funny, but it was a similar form of straight humor as D&M, but no one on the show ever really dissented from the Chick's opinion and they never played off each other. It was just topic, commercial, new topic, commercial, new topic... until the end of the show. The show was never comfortable, it was more of a news format program than a laid back comedy show.

It's because R n F dont piss and moan. they take whatever comes on the chin(no pun intended Fez) and just keep on, keepin on.
It's that type of personality which garners you friendship with your peers, and with the audience.
i think every radio show could stand for a bit more of that, and learn a lesson from the best, R n F!

Very well put, TomPoo. That was said in intelligent and respectful manner. If only more people could be as mature as you.

R&F respect O&A in turn...Opie's like "Tony Hawk's Pro Skateboarding" come to life and Anthony looks like the Monopoly Guy...what's not to respect?

"Women cry for it...men DIE for it!"

another reason why O&A respect R&F is that anthony can park his helicopter on the roof without any problems during the ron and fez show...it is a great chopper but i misssed out on the flight to the hamptons on friday ..I was in the bathroom
damn timing just sucks
