Actually, a bunch of my buddies work for MTV and Viacom-

they pick the artists they want to have on BECOMING then they choose from the people who sent in tapes asking to be that person.

Sometimes they hold open auditions too, but they havnt had them in new york in awhile.
Plus now there doing the whole Seaside thing.
