Of all the shows on TV, one of the few ones than stand out is FX's 'The Shield'- an intense cop drama which is arguably the best in the genre since the first three seasons of Homicide: Life on the Street.

For those who haven't caught it (it was on opposite The Osbournes), do so. In honor of the first season finale (which is on next Tuesday at 10), FX is going to be re-airing the entire season at 10 and 11 each night (in other words episodes 1 and 2 will be on Wednesday at 10 and 11, 3 and 4 will be on Thursday at 10 and 11 and so on until Tuesday) and definitely watch it. Luckily, a second season order was all ready placed.

Any other dedicated viewers of this show on the board?

I've seen bits and pieces of it over the last couple months, and it looks pretty good. IT'll be good to catch up on the reruns. But for some reason, I'll always think of that one cop as the Commish...

I can't help but think Michael Chiklis as a sort of 'Jim Norton on Steroids'..

He also played Belushi, in a TV movie..based on the book, " Wired ". Hmmm..

I agree, it's arguably the best cop show currently in production today. Very well written & acted. I'd say it deserves to be on network TV instead of cable, but then they'd probably edit out all the good nudity & swear words.

Although it's a little hokey at times, I agree that it's a damn good cop show. No way should it EVER be put on regular tv. If anything--hbo/cinemax cud pick it up. It needs the swearing and nudity (its amazing what they actually get on and what they make us THINK gets on). It has all the ingredients that make for a great cop show; gritty realism, good storylines, good actors that make u care about the characters, both good guys and bad guys. The only major problem is that the it seems the writers/producers didnt realize they had a hit when they started. I think the original plan was to have Mackey arrested or killed this season, but no way can they do that now. He's too popular! Theyre trying to soften him up a little lately, but does that forgive what he did early on??? Good show. I recommend the marathon.

Favorite clip of the season - the black basketball star just screwing the white chick. Goddamn, full gyration, shown on my cable TV. Bless you FX.
