When Im calling the show....

what can I do to avoid having Ron treat me like an idiot. I mean I try not to fumble my words, and I hang up if someone goes before me and says what I was going to say. Should I write down what I am going to say, I dont know its like hit or miss. Sometimes I make good, and other times I get hung up on. Is it the screeners who are letting me through when I dont have a relevant point. I was tossing and turning all night with this in my mind. Maybe Im too sensitive.

i hate that i get nervous when i call. i feel my stomach get all weird and i'm like, why am i f'n nervous?

don't write it down, just practice saying it before they go to you live. that's what i do. the more you do it the better it gets though.

No, no no. Drinking solves nothing; it just creates new problems.

Remember that tons of people call in and not all of them can be put through. If you do get on, just relax and have a good time with your call. Eventually you'll be relaxed enough so that it won't be as big a deal.

The worse part about calling in....and i dont know if it's just my phone, but sometimes i cant hear what they are saying....then all of a sudden there's dead air like they are waiting for me to answer a question and i just dont know what to say. So I only call if i KNOW i have something to say, and know that it's funny.

The best way to get used to call ins are to call in during one liner bits where you can say your 1 or 2 lines and punch out.

For some reason when ever I call my heart always beats really fast even though I'm not nervous. I good little trick is to say your big ass card # and if they answer you know there talking to you. Some times the phone screener can be a dick. Who are the phone screeners anyway?

Pantera I htought it was just me, when i call i can hear the show little low and then they say sexy bastard and it sounds like dead air.....one thing i sometimes do is since i am on hold forever i write it down and rehears it while i am waiting so when i get on i just read it off the sheet...but now i am comfy with it i just get nervous when i hear that dead air that pantera was talking about

I'll admit I get nervous too. I've performed in front of plenty of people at shows and on t.v., yet a phone call gets me ancy, even if it's not on the air sometimes. it's a mystery i'm sure i'll never solve.
You seem like you got the basics covered.
Think about this though...
Isnt hearing R n' F busting chops part of why you like the show?
Stop buggin, relax and go with the flow.
Use a different name if that helps, until you're more comfortable. :)
