I remember bits and pieces of this B&W 50's era movie, and have looked through IMDB for it, but don't know the actors in it, nor the title. Hope someone can help me with it (Maybe you old-schoolers?)
Aliens came to earth after watching us fighting with each other and gave several nations (I think the US, Germany, Russia, etc) these capsules that were weapons. The aliens needed a new homeworld and thought Earth would do, and capsules they gave would kill humans, but leave animals and vegetation untouched. You would hold it in your hand and give latitude/longitude and it would kill the people within a certain radius.
I hope someone has seen this movie, so I can finally find out the name of it.

The movie was not too low budget from what I remember- I saw this movie years ago, and thought it was kinda interesting.
Zath- There's some GREAT B&W movies out there! Night of the Living Dead, Citizen Kane, etc. Don't miss out!

This sounds like it might be it. THE 27th DAY from 1957.
here's the IMDB listing and the plot summary from another site is - "Moss, an alien from a dying planet whose people want to immigrate to Earth, gives five humans from five different countries special killing capsules. It is against the ethics of Moss' people to kill intelligent life, but Earthlings, he observes, seem set on destroying themselves. The capsules he hands out will instantly kill when opened but become useless after 27 days or the death of their bearer. Barry, a newspaper columnist, is given one of the capsules. Eventually, one of the 5 realizes there is an alternative to the "life or death" and the capsules are used to wipe out evil. Based on John Mantley novel. "
and yes, there are plenty of fine black and white movies.

That's it!
IkeaBoy emerges from the shadows with the correct info once again. Now to see if I can find it in Blockbuster. (Good luck, right?) :)
