SPY REPORT: O & A give Stalka Patty the boot... [Archive]

For those who missed it...O and A made a long awaited and much needed move around 6:15pm. They called stalker patty into the studio and announced to her that they were cutting her loose. At 1st I thought it was a "make patty cry" gag...but it turns out they were serious! AMEN! They told her theyve done all they can with her, and that her expected visit tomorrow with R and F for her birthday has been cancelled with the approval of R and F. They gave her 2 minutes of airtime to say her goodbyes, and thankyous, and , after many an interrution from a "disapproving" Norton (best line--"just cause she has the head and body of a 2 day old sparrow..."), she did so, and was escorted out of the studio, and indeed out of the building by Rick. Once outside, she was instructed NEVER to return to the building or she wud be removed by lobby security. (there was also a mention of a restraining order, but i'm not sure that was a reality). The clincher came when Opie demanded she give back the wig off her head as it was property of WNEW. Keep in mind, patty was just shaved bald by the boys on saturday. This was by far the most disturbing portion of this segment, as patty began to cry, begging Rick not to take her wig from her. Even Anthony backed down and said he reached his limit, allowing patty to keep the wig if she promised to mail it to the station at a later date. Patty went walking into the distance, to the music of, of course, the incredible hulk sad music. Cringe radio at its best. But thank god patty is gone.

The wig thing was much (And lord knows Ric probably came on himself while he did it) but I understand why they did make her leave the show. She's on every show on the station and each show had a patty bit so she is no longer anything special for them. It's the same reason R&F cut back on the assman. He was on every show (even Don and Mike) so they let him loose. Except O&A are heartless bastards.

im gonna get some heat for this but she desserved it. she was the definition of hanger on. her life was greatly affected by the show.

by removing her it would make her start to know her priorities and not just hanging out EVERYDAY in a radio studio.

Wow, holy shit...that was the worst radio i have ever heard... that was so beyond the means of good taste...fine kick off the show but there is no need to pull off the wig... wow i have never felt that low as a human being before... i am in awe.... Opie you will rot in hell for this one..

I'm gonna start by saying, I am a huge O&A fan. I NEVER GET PISSED ABOUT ANYTHING THEY DO EVER. Not until now-IMHO, that was low-class, heartless, cruel, sadistic, stupid, not funny, not fun, not good radio, nothing but meanness & cruelty. I don't see a reason for this. Hell, if you're serious about setting her loose, then do it off the air, which I hate to even say, but in this case it would've been kinder. This poor chick is gonna be completely destroyed. & I know, everyone will say this cutoff had to be done, but then, hey, don't get her so sucked in & so much attention in the 1st place, & then just yank it all away. Patti was good radio BECAUSE she was weak and sweet and weird...just in my opinion the reasons not to do this to her. This sucks and it is not right. O&A havent lost a fan here, because I love them too much. I'm just absolutely furious. I hope they're not too into their show to maybe get a clue here that that was WRONG.

Its obvious from listening how much O&A hate women by the way they act towards and treat them. But to not even be man enough to do the thing themselves just shows what little class they have. My only hope is this was fake radio, but after hearing patty shriek it was absolutely horrendous. If you wanna embarass women fine use your barrell bit to humiliate someone, but to do it to someone you know and had seen just shows how cruel and heartless and immature they really are.

But what even more disturbing is the fact R&F went along with O&A's wishes about not having her back. I know that O&A and R&F are friends but friendship should never get in the way of business and it sounded as if R&F liked having her around, so by agreeing with O&A they showed me they dont have the balls to stand up for their own decisions. Maybe R&F are the ass kissers and lackeys for O&A like Don and mike said. It is truly disturbing to see R&F bow down like this, but do nothing to have their own useless producer removed

Well Cheezee, if it WAS a bit, patty was definately NOT in on it. Shes not that good of an actor. As for R and F "liking" her..I imagined it differently, it sounded to me like they just put up with her better. They are definately just nicer people than O and A in general. I think everyone in that staion is happy now that WNEW is no longer a homeless shelter.

They said it was tough love. she deserves it, she obviously thinks that whenever she has a problem all she needs to do is come to teh show and ask for help, because of teh fact that she thinks that shell get help she doesnt help her self. so now that she realizes (i hope she does) that u cant always look for help from everyone, maybe shell realize she needs to do something better with her life and be able to help her own self.

I understand that all good things must come to an end even Stalker Patti. But the way they handled it was uncalled for at best and shameful at worst. I am a huge fan of both O&A and R&F and Ive never been so upset by a radio show in my life. That was beyond cringe and borderline unforgiveable. I really hope they rethink the way they handled this and in some way redeem themselves. It's the least they can do since it seems to me MOST of their fans were really hurt by this. Ratings like that they do not need nor should they want.

Just for the record, I'm so not taking anything away from Opie's talent with my opinion here. I believe that O&A are both brilliant. I don't have to say either of them suck to say I'm furious w/them. What I'm saying is that that bit was cruel, truly sadistic, & uncalled for. Opie's always trying to impress everyone with how tough he is. He always makes a point to drop comments about how he reads Stuff magazine - nothing wrong with the publication itself but Opie wants to hammer it home that he reads it. So know one questions that he's regular guy. He did a 180 when Norton and Anthony made fun of his taste in liking Cinderella and said let's play some Guns N Roses to "get the gayness out of the studio." Why was tough guy Opie so insecure then? So the cruel treatment of Patty sucked but was no surprise, since Opie thinks he's a tough guy because he picks on a weaker opponent. Guess John McCain who survived a Hanoi prison camp is a pussy compared to Opie...
I like listening to O and A when they just hangout and joke around, not this Tubby Tom Leykis type of garbage. Opie should stop auditioning for a role as a one of the next Dogg brothers.

I've been listening to Opie and Anthony for almost four years and I personally was furious. If Stalker Patty wore out her welcome then fine. If there's nothing more that they can do with her in the context of the show they so be it. But the way it was handled was disgusting. It amazes me how many people live vicariously through the show. The people who would do anything for O and A and agree with anything they say and no matter how pathetic an heartless and cruel something they do is: They cheer. Because it's easy to make fun of someone who has it worse than you. It's easy to make a joke at someone's expense because deep down inside you believe you have the right because you believe that you're better. The KKK does it. the Nazis did it. The Catholics do it. And they're chock full of mindless sheep. Some of us laugh at Patty. Some of us say she deserved it but why? Can you answer that? Because she's a hanger on? So's Awesome Garret. His contributions to making the show better are :A danish pedophile, fighting with strippers, Norton hitting on him, and recording Ben asleep. What else has he done to make the show better? Answer phones? They pay him for that. It's not that difficult. If he was gone they'd hire some other schmuck who'd eventually get the gist of the show and do as good a job as him. Do you know why Garret is awesome? Because O and A say he is. Why does Patty deserve to be treated like that? Because everything O and A do must be right. They're your heroes and your gods you worship them. I hear it all the time when you sheep call the radio station. I hear you agreeing just to get a hint of approval. Swinging lovingly from their shorthairs because they can do what society deems unacceptable for YOU to do. They can be inhuman for you. You talk about how Patty's life revolves around the show but you sheep are living through O and A. If you saw anyone else being treated like that in the street you'd be ready to beat down the motherfucker who did it but because it's something your gods did, it's okay and you agree like good little sheep. You sacrifice gifts of beer and other things to their altar so that they will bless you with a moment of their time. You bring your gilfriend down for their amusment so that they will look at you fondly. And you advocate whatever they do because you're good little sheep and Opie and Anthony can do no wrong. You people make me ill. You sheep make me want to wretch. And as for Fezzie I know it was good cop bad cop but listening to him made me feel like punching him so bad that by 9:30 I had turned the show off.

First off, I feel I don't know the entire story of what went on behind the scenes here. I don't know if Patty was offered places to stay or had gotten money. So I have no opinion on that.

But what really disturbs me is:

That Opie and Anthony made a conscious decision before the show not to take her aside and tell her privately that she couldn't stay there any longer. They chose to profit off of a very sad situation and humiliate this girl in front of thousands of listeners. I won't even get into the fact also, that Patty has provided many hours of entertainment for their show.

Secondly, I have stopped listening to O&A many months ago. I wish they would just admit that they hate women. The only time they seem happy or excited are when they are demeaning women with wiffel ball bats or torturing them (like they did with that gallon challenge thing) by throwing bugs on them. They both have some verious serious issues that they should look into.

Way to point out my obvious typo mistakes, some people when writing on something they feel passion about they write and dont proofread. Way to find fault grammatically instead of logically and respond to anything else. Way to show your education goes only to high school like your mentality

generally people who liked the bit aren't saying it was funny... they are saying it was great CRINGE radio... which doesn't necessarily mean it has to be funny.

If they made you feel uncomfortable, if they left a bad taste in your mouth and if they got you listening, then in their eyes, it was a succesful bit.

For what it's worth, it was god damned funny and the only thing funnier has been the reactions people are having to it!

Even a couple of the FU line calls were piss takers. Whether or not Rick actually ripped the wig off, whether or not Patty was in on it, don't feel too bad. I'm sure she's taken care of.

if this is just a bit, and patty is in on it, wouldn't it be the kind of 'fake radio' o&a accuse other shows of doing? namely rockhole. i think it was real...

and i was a bit surprised at how typical ron and fez's reaction was. the whole good cop, bad cop reeks of just what don and mike (who i can't stand) said r&f were all about at wnew.

im a casual o&a fan, but i listen to ron and fez pretty regularly. seeya.

No i dont have a masters degree. But i have a college education, my comment was more about how mature you act. Again way to respond to a question with an attempt to be wity comment

Not to correct u AGAIN...and I'm certainly not trying to be witty AGAIN...but...I just re-read your last post to which I replied, and I dont see a question mark (?) anywhere in it. Anyway...it all boils down to the fact that different people have different senses of humor, and different opinions on what "crosses the line". As my 1st comment on this thread would suggest, I had a similar reaction to the wig removing as many others. But after the initial shock, I realized that as shocking, disgusting, inhumane, cruel, etc..as it may have been...it was ENTERTAINING, if not "funny" (to me). Patty's getting over it. Perhaps we should too.
