Are you serious? I've turned Procrastination into an Artform. Snatch the Pebble from my hand, Grasshopper.
The correct answer is: Maybe later.......

FATYLVR20 - Proscrastination is not at all unusual. People put off tasks that they don't enjoy doing.
There's a large element of motivation to the puzzle. Think of how you have to drag yourself out of bed in the morning to get to school or work. Contrast that with getting out of bed to go to a ski trip.
The danger of procrastination is that there are always some projects or assingments that take longer to do than "the night before". If you leave it till then your grade will suffer. Your best course of action is to try to do a little bit every day. Set general guidelines for yourself. (like, in 2 weeks, i'm going to finish all the reading. 2 weeks after that I'm going to finish a first draft. 2 weeks later a finished draft.)
The best way to avoid procrastination is to constantly remember the potential pitfals that can occur when something is left for the last minute.
Here is a list of some common things that can cause or contribute to procrastination:
1. Tiredness - causes inability to focus.
2. Fear - of taking a risk. Fear can lead some people to believe that doing nothing is better than taking action and making a mistake
3. Anxiety and/or depression - Note that these diseases can cause what appears to be procrastination, but what is actually other symptoms (such as lethargy).
4. Not taking responsibility -an emotional crutch. It's easier to blame others than take responsibility for your own actions.
5. Avoidance - As in the student who waits till the night before to start on his term paper.
6. Boredom - When a job is boring and has no incentives, it can be difficult to maintain interest.
7. OCDs - Can find themselves constantly working on a project instead of finishing it.

hmm, i'm bad with the procrastination. i really dont want to leave things off, but inevitably i do. i think i've hit a cycle where i actually get depressed about it. when it comes time to have things done, and they aren't, i get down on myself. the crazy thing is, i can't stand it. i really don't want to be this way. i even try to break free, but i end up falling again. it's viscious.
i feel i'm a positive person, and i always give good advice...advice i should take, but never do. i'm starting to think i might suffer from something, like a depression. it just seems like such a huge obstacle to overcome. im smart, great IQ, excellent in heavy situations, never think a bad thing about people, and wherever i end up working i always get promoted. it seems i have great ability, but it's never realized.
how do i find out if i might be suffering from something?
thanks for any help.

EROLE - You might consider seeing a therapist for a one shot consultation.
One thing to remember though is that everyone has ups and downs in their life. It's only when it becomes pervasive and or interferes with the enjoyment of life (or functioning) that it becomes problematic.
A consultation will verify whether or not you have a problem and if so, what the problem is. If you do not have any problems, you'll be able to feel better about yourself and your state of mental health.
