Growing up, I had a "thing" for M-80's..I loved to blow things up. Anybody remember the great fireworks that were around back in the day?

I've always been partial to those little black pellets called "Snakes" that make big ash turds when you light them.

Also, the little spinners that seriously endangered the lives of those around them, for when lit, they'd spin like a top momentarily before shooting toward the nearest exposed flesh.

HECKLER - In days of yore, the professional fireworks displays went on at least once a week at most beaches.

I remember my parents taking My brother and I to Far Rocakway Beach to see them. You could also hear the BOOM as the tugs launched them.

Of course, now that Bush is president, fireworks have been banned b/c they may cause a spontaneous abortion.

I"m not sure how far back they go, but I love the classic of bottle rockets...sending gi-joes up into space was totally fun :)

not that these were fireworks but I loved those lil bottlecaps, the red paper that you would roll up in your play gun and shoot and it would give off a cheesy bang that when you were a kid it was the coolest thing...and the smell always got you high. I also remember those lil pieces of paper that you would throw on the ground and thay gave off a lil bang.

Boy, that Guiliani has really cracked down on the fireworks. Usually at this time of year the "lists" used to go around and you would place your orders for the Fourth. So far, nothing.

My parents never let me have anything but sparklers and snakes, I hate them for it to this day.
What I had to do was get my friend who's mother let him get them, order extra for me and use them hat his house.
Bottle rockets and roman candles were definitely cool.
On a side note, when I was in college, in beautiful Hoboken, NJ, I used to get high with these kids who had the most annoying fixation with fireworks. We'd be smokin somewhere we shouldn't have been, and these idiots would be settin off m-80's. Hey you wanna not draw attention to us when we are doing drugs in public. Thanks.

Okay, PCU doesn't count. PCU has to be watched every time it's on TV, there's a law against not watching it, I think.

As for Half Baked, they edit all the good shit out, which is why I hate Comedy Central movies. They pick movies they can't play and butcher them so they can.
