According to last night's Baseball Tonight, Peter Gammons mentioned something about the disgruntled Scott Rolen and his continued want to leave Philadelphia. The team wiht the best chance is the Mets and it would be a trade for Alfonzo *(and possibly a minor league pitcher) for Rolen. Both are in the last years of their contracts.
So to the Mets fans (like myself) would you pull the trigger for a more established star or stick with some homegrown talent.
I want the Mets to shake things up and maybe this will get the Metropolitans to move their collective asses and it for once.
Hopefully Payton can be moved but if not... do something.
Don't blame Dave Engle!

Now, I'm not a Met fan by any means so I really don't know but has Alfonzo really done much of anything? The second question is can Rolen handle the everyday pressure of the NY market (see: Kenny Rogers)?

e2r, I hate making excuses but last year Ventura and Zeile who are currently having solid years thus far have been injured last year. I'm happy for them.
jestah, I believe he is ready for New York if that trade happens. Dan won't be too happy but he seems hard edged enough to be a superstar and marketing machine in the Big Apple.
But what do the few and far between Met fans think of this possibility?

Whoever gets Rolen is going to be lucky. He's great in the feild and is a potential 30+ HR guy with hustle. He's never lived up to his potential in Philly and there is no way he'll be in philly after the trade deadline. I love the guy and wish the Phillies could put a team around him, but at some point the guy just quit on the organization.

Stick with Alfonzo. I get the ugly feeling that if a trade were made, it would turn into another Lenny Dykstra debacle. Also, the Mets shouldn't deplete their farm system of pitching since they already have a decent 3rd baseman.
