OMG!! If he kisses Shaq's ass anymore I am going to scream!! I can understand being partial, but don't completely insult and belittle the other team. He makes comments like "Shaq could just stand there and eat an ice cream cone. He doesn't even have to guard anyone" or "Let the big man sit down, they don't even need him in there" or "how much farther do you think I can put my head up his ass....
I understand Shaq is good and EVERY team has trouble containing him, but his is not in the same leauge as Dr. J and Kareem and other hall of fame centers. He is BIG and ATHLETIC, that's it!! People need to get of his dick and treat him like a normal player...and Bill Walton-Get a life! :)
Thank you, I feel better.

Walton is terrible but actually the worst commentators have to be Hernandez and Seaver for the Mets. Quit bitching at how they swing and pitch and try to tell them that.
Why don't you guys help the Mets?

True. I was just stating I hated Bill Walton, but if we are getting into the worst commentators ever, MAGIC JOHNSON wins hands down.

One example of his ability: "Michael brung the ball upcourt..."
As amazing as he was to watch play, he was painful to listen to when doing commentary.

Aggie, I think you are 100% wrong in your opinion about Walton and about Shaq, and heres why.
OMG!! If he kisses Shaq's ass anymore I am going to scream!! I can understand being partial, but don't completely insult and belittle the other team.
I honestly don't think you're watching the same games that I'm watching, Aggie. Walton has constantly ripped into the officials and Shaq himself for committing countless offensive fouls, and for his supposed leaning over the free throw line whenever he shoots them. He has been incredibly fair in terms of praise and criticism when talking about Shaq, so I really dont think you're listening to everything else he's saying.
He makes comments like "Shaq could just stand there and eat an ice cream cone. He doesn't even have to guard anyone" or "Let the big man sit down, they don't even need him in there" or "how much farther do you think I can put my head up his ass....
Well he doesn't really need to guard anyone, so Walton is pretty much right on with his statement. Not on the Nets at least. There is no threat offensively from the center position by the Nets, so Shaq can just sit back under the basket and come on the weak side to block shots.
If you remember the Sacramento series, and past years of Laker playoff games, you would constantly notice Phil Jackson getting on him for not coming up to cover the guard on pick and rolls. Thats why he had so many problems against the Kings. Divac can shoot and pass, and it forces Shaq to move away from being under the basket and being the great weak side shot blocker he is. Remember the noticeable amount of open layups the Kings had and the constant open shots Bibby had throughout the series? That was because Shaq was forced to come up to guard him, and most of the time he doesn't want to move from under the basket. Thats why Walton's statement is defensable...he's right.
But if your bothered that hes being harsh....well the Nets deserve it. They haven't defended him at all well, and hes averaging close to 40 a game. Thats pathetic, and they deserve to be ripped for it.
I understand Shaq is good and EVERY team has trouble containing him, but his is not in the same leauge as Dr. J and Kareem and other hall of fame centers. He is BIG and ATHLETIC, that's it!! People need to get of his dick and treat him like a normal player...
I absolutely do think he is the league of these great players. Wilt Chamberlain was a monster on the basketball court, and one of the greatest of all time. He was incredible, and changed the game completely. Rules were changed because of how good he was, and if you can have that much of an impact on the game you play, you are a great player, and Shaq is in this category.
Yes Shaq is big and athletic, but that doesn't simply sum up his game. He's got great footwork, great passing skills, and great heart to play through the injuries he's had to deal with. He constantly gets fouled (along with committing countless offensive fouls too), and rarely gets into fights with officials or other players about it. He's going to have 3 championships, and that is no small accomplishment.
Few players can even attempt to contain him, and the majority of the time when he doesn't come through is due to his teammates not getting him the ball. He is the most dominating player in the game since Jordan, and because he's a center, it's that much more impressive. Look at how he plays against the top centers in the game right now and in the past. He's always exceeded them, save for when the Rockets beat the Magic several years ago.
You can't compare a player from this era to past eras, but if you really wanted to, Shaq would absolutely hold his own against Kareem, Wilt, Russell, or anyone else you could come up with. None of them could guard him. Yes he shoots most of his shots from less than 10 feet away, but he makes more than 50% of them. Hes a dominating player, and the most dominating player in the league. Yes Kidd deserved the MVP

I was about to post this... During the Kings VS
Lakers the Kings were up by almost 20 and it was
almost half time. Walton said If he was the Kings
he would not want to be on the road and up by 20
he rather be tied when the other announcers said
that was crazy he mentioned how the Nets blew
there lead against the Celtics. The other
announcers mentioned that happened only once in
170 games and Walton refused to back down... He
is the worst and he is a Knick hater and I HATE the
knicks but he is too biased even for
David the Franchize

How sad is the state of sports casting when Bill Walton is at the top of the list to announce during the finals. A couple of side notes, I wanna punch Bob Costas right in the face. And if i have to see Kobe Bryant's expression everytime HE THINKS he's been fouled then I'll just have to punch Bob Costas again.
And Shaq..... when he first started in the NBA and weighed considerably less he was dominated by all the big centers....even Ewing. So he took peoples advice and gained alot of weight. Now he's drenched in sweat before the game even starts. The guy makes a rut in the center of the court because he follows the same path up and down all game. He has little skill, and he's pretty far from being a graceful basketball player. His game lies purely in his size.

That is absurd Sunny.
Ever see Wilt, Russell, or other great centers play?
I did. In the low post Shaq would get destroyed by the great centers of the past, which includes Wes Unseld, Willis Reed, Wilt, Bob Lanier, Russell, Alcindor(Jabbar) and others. Shaq is one of the game's best, but against the old time centers he would have major problems.
BTW, Bill Walton is probably the greatest college player of all time, and he does have a bit of "LA homerism" in him, being a legend at UCLA and living on the west coast.
As an announcer, he is improving and can be quite entertaining.
OK, I'm done. Now click on ESPN Classic Sports.
