any one actually think al is leaving? consider this...ratings for ron and fez have gone way up in new york under his charge even if he didn't do the work he still gets some credit also just cuase someone resigns doesn't mean they're off the boss has to accept his resignation first.

I don't think he's leaving either. I think he'll probably try to say that the contract was never valid because he was drunk when he wrote it. He cares too much about his job to give it up so easily.

I certainly think he will try to come back. He'll go over the legality of the contract and use all the same arguments about the ring and rain he did on Friday that made it so unfair to him. I bet he calls in on Monday and whines his case. <P>
As for the ratings, Al has nothing to do with any of that. It's all Ron and Fez. If anything he's lowered the ratings they should be getting. Anyone who remembers the dotcom days will have to agree that it was just a better all around show before it got Duked. <P>

Actually, I much as I wish it
wasn't true, Al IS gone. I spoke
to both Ron and Billy after the
fight and Ron said somehing to
the effect of how Al was the best
and he's gonna miss him, and
Billy said quote "If he's smart,
he'll go back to FLA." So as of
right now, it seems pretty legit.
Whether or not his career was
actually riding on that fight, I
have my doubts, but I do beleive
he's gone. Keep in mind, this
show is not afraid to dump guys
relentlessly. Remember how Joe
Poo's firing was just played off as
an "extended vacation"? He was
told to take the rest of the week
off, and we never heard from him
again. This isn't the WWE, Al
isn't going to come back as a
masked character.

If management signed off on this then they're absolutely crazy. That is why I think Al will be back. WNEW is hanging by a thread why would they let a key part of the Ron and Fez show leave over a fight. Lets face it if Ron and Fez are the only things keeping WNEW from going to another format. They could easily find another station for O and A but with Ron and Fez's success it makes it hard to flip formats.

You can't really compare the show in its current form to the dot.com days...as fun and insane as the show was, it was almost a little too aimless. Al's like a running thread you can always fall back on that was just used a little too often. Sure, there was too much Al, but the answer isn't to go to NO Al...he's too good a target and too good a sport to just toss away at a moment's notice...this was just a dramatic way to lessen his time on the show and get some great radio out of it. It's different from the Poo situation...Poo was a great caller, a funny guy in-studio, but then got really old, really fast. Poo also seemed to react only to the people in the studio, at least 95% of the time...Al takes calls, gets ripped by the callers, yells back...he's a fully interactive human punching bag. I've got full faith by this Friday we'll have another dose of Dukes on the Ron & Fez show.
