Hey Horde King. Sometimes I feel like I'd like to talk to a professional about certian things, but I have no money or coverage to get it. So where can a poor kid get help if I find I need it? Self help books? I'm not a psyco or anything, I'd just like to have a few options.

NJDMMOE - That's a question I get asked a lot.
Obviously you're best off if you have insurance and the better the insurance the more likely you are to find a therapist who is close to your area and whom you like.
Most high school and full time college kids (up to age 23) are most likely covered by their parent's policy.
If you aren't covered by your parents or your own policy there are 2 things you'll want to consider.
1. Every therapist I've ever met, will accept a sliding scale fee arrangement if you can't afford to pay full price. A therapist who usually charges $100 may be willing to take $50 or less. If you only feel like you need to see someone once in a while this is not a bad way to go. When you call the doctor, tell him or her that you'd like to make an appointment but that you don't have coverage. Usually they'll tell you they have a sliding scale or ask you how much you can afford. If it's not a weekly session, paying a one-shot reduced fee hopefully won't break the bank.
2. In cases where you feel suicidal or there is a real emergency you should go to a TEACHING hospital. They must take all people including those who don't have insurance. Frankly if you're in a really bad off way and you're thinking in terms of suicide, the hell with insurance just go to a hospital and you'll get to see a shrink. You can also do this in non-emergent situations but generally, you may end up waiting a long time for someone to become available and you don't know who you'll be seen by.

Moe, a great way to rant is to start a journal. There is a cathartic quality found in writing. Listen to some music that inspires you and just sit down and release all of the feelings. Have a conversation with your own mind. You will be able to understand yourself once you see the feelings from a third person view.
Good Luck

Thanks Rooster, but I find that sitting around just thinking is one of the worst things I can do. Letting all these thoughts run around in my head for too long just works me into a paranoid frenzy most times. I actually find that I need to have MANY things around for me to do all the time, or I start to get bored, and just think about stuff for too long. But thanks anyway. And I tried the journal thing, but I just got paranoid that someone would read it, and ended up destroying it.
And thanks to you too Horde King. I understand that if things get REALLY bad, I'll go to the hospital. But I don't want to make it sound like I'm psychotic. I just find I get paraniod, anxious, depressed, and very angry sometimes, and then it goes away after awhile.
I wouldn't kill myself, bacause then all those people who don't like me will be happy, and I wouldn't want that. I'll be around as long as possible, to make sure they're not happy.

moe. this is a crappy situation. i'm sorry man. a
good way to get free therapy is to go to a local
univerity, bigger the better. SUNY schools are great
for this. i dunno about NJ state schools. if you email
or call teh head of the department's office and
explain the situation, you might even get to see
them at no cost! if agree to be a research subject
(usually just stuff like surveys and what not) you
might also get free therapy. i know this might be
embarassing to initiate, but if its via Email, maybe it
wouldnt be so bad. ALSO they might be able to
recomend a hospital, clinic or doc that is willing to
help you for little to no cost.
just a few hawiian ideas....

CRAIG - That's a terrific suggestion, which I should have included. Most schools offer at least some type of therapy services. However, you have to be a student to take advantage of these services, so it is not the answer for everyone.
