I just watched "Beaches" last night, and I cried. I know I'm a caring, kind and sensitive guy, but is crying a bad thing?

Sure, real men cry. But real men don't watch "Beaches", so I don't know how to make the call here.

Real men do not watch
beaches.... Real men do cry on
occasion due to emotions but
NEVER because of pain! I hope
I have answered your answer.

HECKLER - Crying, or any expression of emotion is a wonderful thing. It is not mererly acceptable, but it shows you to be a caring feeling person; one who not afraid to experience sorrow and joy and share them with others.

Now, as to you youn pups, "Real men" are confident enough in their sexuality to recognize that crying from sorrow and/or joy does not make them any less "masculine" than a guy who represses all his feelings.

Oh, and btw, what kind of guy who do you suppose a woman would prefer to be with?

One who doesn't cry MORE than I do... and yes, I did date one of those. It's unfortunate that many young men today think that to be sensitive, they have to be able to cry, and do so with more frequency than neccesary, or force tears when they feel no emotion, simply so they'll be seen as caring.

However, the day my father, a man who was not known to be demonstrative at all, stood before me with tears in his eyes and told me he was proud of me is a day I will always treasure.

Real men cry. But real men only do it when it's appropriate or when they're truly moved.

Like when they watch Beaches. :)

KATETHEWITCH - I wasn't advocated uncontrolled weeping for no reason.

When appropriate crying is as important as laughing.

Now as to Beaches - my wife dragged me to that movie, and I quickly realized that I had been duped! The movie was NOT about wearing thongs on the beach at all. I cried the entire movie, mourning the 2 hours of my life I'd never get back.

Although I don't usually cry unless something extremely painful or emotional has happened in my life, I think that it is a sign of strength to let your self be vunerable at times.

Of course too much of anything is a bad thing, but without crying, I think a lot of men do the obvious thing in keeping their feelings and emotions locked up.

Personally, I haven't cried in just over a year, but when I did, it was an intense experience. Totally exhausting. So I dunno how you women who cry more often do it ...:)

It's strange how I cried during "Beaches" and laughed during "Schindler's List". I'm sure it's the medication I'm taking.

Hey Erin, even "Happy Days" is funny when the medication kicks in, so go and do an imitation of Dana Plato, OK?;)

The day Heckler stops being funny, I vote we set his post number back to zero! Fortunately, that will never happen.

Ya, see, Erin, to deconstruct Heckler's joke, following a comment about crying in one movie, the crying is to be contrasted with laughing. Since our brains are organized in terms of labels, and opposites are the most basic label (i.e. us/them) Hecler's comment about crying is followed up with a comment about laughing. Now think of a sad movie. Schindler's List comes to mind. So, cry in Beaches, laugh in Schindler's List. The line about the meds makes it clear as if there were any doubt that the whole comment was a goof.

BTW, is rust really necessary when castrating someone? I'd think that the castration was enough. Perhaps you mean castrate with a "dull" knife so as to prolong the pain?

In any event, (high pitched) ouch.

Some people just don't get it HK. In Erin Moran's case, just remember..she once had a crush on "Potsie Webber"!Nuff said!;)

One with a penis so large it's frightening. Or one that writes bad beat poetry and pretends that it's scary deep. Or a french guy.

Thankfully, any French Beat Poets with Frighteningly Large Penises are usually accompanied by an unusually hairy and skanky pubic region, so we're all safe. For now.
