hey reed, i'm going for the same thing... theatre is
not a good path for TV, unless u want to act. the
best thing to major in is mass media or mass com or
communications (every school is a lil different). and
try to minor in a hard science (physics here) in case
u wanna be an engineer. grove

well apperantly Im a good actor, so says the Northern Virginia Theatre judges, and I figures being a radio personality is much like acting on stage. I dont wanna do TV production.

I mainly either wanna run a Radio show, or have my own show, or be on TV or Movies. Its hard as shit to do, a little easier for radio but its worth a shot, theres always the marines =)

Communications is the major to
go into, but it also WOULD help
to minor in English. You want to
be a good writer with a strong
vocabulary, as that is what
weeds you out from the other
asses trying to make it in the
universe. Also, go to a college
that specialzes in
communications. At least that's
what I'm doing, cuz I'm starting
at Emerson College next fall.
Good luck.

i can tell you first hand that you dont really need a degree or schooling in communicatioins, for that matter, to get a job in radio. ive been in radio for a little over a year now (in between jobs right now) and i going for a degree in photography. well heres the best way to get started.

1. Start an internship at a radio station that you like. (For me unfotunetly i had to get one at a station near me)

2. Once you you have the internship you have to work your ass off. you really have to show them that radio is really what you want to do. This sounds nuts but i was litterally going in everyday for the promotions staff, working every event that was going on.

3. this is the really easy part. all you have to do now is get in good with with everyone, especially the program director and sales people.

4. you have to stay there working as much as possible and kissing as much ass as you can, and once there is something that they have an opening or some small position that needs filling, i guarentee, you will be the first person that they offer it to.
Thats what i did. im only 21 and i board operated a syndicated rock show. I engineered another syndicated rock sow and i had my own weekend air shift. the work is hard. the money fucking sucks. litterally people working at mc donalds made more than the promotions coordinater. but i love it. there is now other business out there. one more tip that no one had told me. and i stress, NEVER TRUSTS THOSE SCUM FUCKERS IN SALES. they are all greedy and deserve to die. Good luck

I've got a radio gig. It stinks but it's something. You don't need a degree, but it'll get you in the door. Also, try to make contacts and network as much as possible.

They're not all gems

yeah, kissing ass always gets you around in the world. But what id like to do is study communications and intern at a station.

What schools in NY are good other than NYu (no way in hell ill get in there) Cause i like NY and id like to goto school there.

I wanna Major in like Communications or something, and double minor in history and drama. Maybe the rooster might know some colleges in the NYC area.
