this is like one of my favorite things in the world. i'll be walking down the street or something, and a guy will just throw me a compliment and keep going. he doesnt try to get my number, doesnt try to chat me up, just the compliment and goes.

this happened this morning, and it kind of made my day. i was walking to the train and i'm all sleepy and stuff and this guy is just walking towards me and he slows down as we pass and says "you are beautiful... gorgeous eyes". i turned and must have smiled i guess, bc he said "keep smiling, it looks good on you," and that was it. he went his way, and i went mine. i love that

I do that all the time....i think it is a good thing to say something kind to a complete stanger. Maybe it is the thing they need to brighten their day.
A little kindness goes a long way and it is NEVEr a sign of weekness.

I never toss out compliments.. I don't want some girl getting a swelled head just because some witty, charming, intelligent bohunk said something nice about her hair.

i must disagree, adf. It's not about giving someone a swelled head, Its about making someone feel good about themsevles. everyone deserves a little bit of that, and they don't get it enough. Personally, I never just throw out a compliment. I never say anything unless i really mean it, so i'm not trying to charm anyone. the only incentive for me is knowing that i just made someone feel a little better

Compliments are always nice but you have to be weary as to who you are giving it too. Although some people try to come off like its annoying, everyone likes to be complimented. And yes, its all just a big mental f*ck.
