View Full Version : High School Yearbooks..are they worth keeping?

I was going through some old boxes, and came across a bunch of yearbooks...not just 3 yearbooks from high school, but 4 from middle school too.

And I thought to myself, why am I keeping these. It's not like high school and middle school were horrible experiences, because I liked high school and enjoyed it. But on the other hand, it's not like they were so wonderful that I'd like to keep all these page filled memories either.

So I'm thinking of throwing them out...in a way maybe moving on with my life by forgetting the past.

Any advice on whether this is a good idea or not, or whether im just making something out of nothing?

i think its fun, and brings back some memories like wonder what XYZ is up to, and i remember when this happened, also seeing the pic of you ohhh man my senior pic i looked like john candy lol, and also brings back some sadness to see those who have passed away.
but i think its good, i am lucky where i look thru my alumni directory to se how everyone is doing

I would also keep them.. but that's cause I'm crazy about old pictures. If you have enough space is your home to keep them, I would never throw them out. Cause maybe you'll regret it..

and over here they don't even give out those yearbooks :(

I would say definately keep it, and keep it in a safe place. My dog got a hold of mine and there are pages missing. Sucks.

I HATED my highschool, and had A LOT of fun mutilating my Yearbooks. I still have them. I pull them out every now and the to laugh at. It was great! I had friends both at my school, and out of school write in a lof of shit they wanted to as well! It's like a huge joke book! And then there are those pages I set on fire. But hey, it's funny! And I don't give a fuck about forgetting people. I never knew most of the names of my classmates anyway.

But unless you're a hateful mess like I used to be, hold on to your yearbooks. Most normal folks enjoy them.

I kept mine just to show my kids in the future. I always loved looking at my mom's old pictures.

i must agree with darkhippie...yr books provide good batching material. makes ya remember who ya banged or coulda..or perhaps brings back ugly memories of who ya shouldnt have banged. 2 sides to it but i'd keep it.

SUNNY - I hope you give serious consideration to keeping your yearbook.

Even if they don't mean much to you now, they may take on a new meaning when you get older, especially if you have children. Not only will they love to look at your yearbooks, but you can use it as a springboard to discussing all sorts of school related things with your kids. You can tell them for example about how you handled a bully, or what type of things you liked at that age, or about good teachers and bad. You can use it to boost self-esteem.

I really recomend that you keep it for yourself and for future significant others in your life.
