The movie INDEPENDENCE DAY is so bad ...

After repeated viewings of this monstrosity,there are so many things in it that suck,I almost dont know where to start.But I'll start here:Why am i supposed to give a rats ass about Will Smith's friggin dog surviving when whole cities have just been wiped out? And the broad who plays his whore girlfriend is the worst so called actress I have had the displeasure to see.I'm hyperventilating at the thought of this crap film so I'll be right back.

I thought the dog surviving the fiery destruction was pretty amusing in an "oh my god this is lame" kind of way.

The special effects were incredibly good for the time the movie came out, plus it had WIll Smith in it...but most people I think just went to go see it for all the seens of the white house and other cities being blon up, because a the time it looked pretty cool.

And anytime Captain Lone Star speaks, the people listen.

Will Smith, after the broad tells him to ignore the earthquake,walks into his driveway and proceeds to read his paper (and have his coffee brought to him) while oblivious to his surroundings.He is a pilot with no peripheral vision.His whore is also completely clueless. Do they do this every day?

I especially liked when Harry Connick got blown up by the alien fighter...he was annoying even though he was on the screen for about 8 minutes.

The problem with Independence day was that it took itself way too seriously. I prefer Tim Burton's version which came out right around the same time, MARS ATTACKS! Star studded, and very funny, in a cheesey way.

I gotta agree that Mars Attacks was brutally bad. It was a horrible bust. I guess it's just that the cheesiness of it was lost on just how bad a movie it was in terms of plotline...Independence Day was no Hamlet, but it was better.

well..I didnt see Hamlet, but my guess is if Shakespeare had written a play where creatures from outer space invaded earth...it would be better than these 2 films put together...wow...why didnt he ever do that? He coulda been really famous. He couldve ditched Anne Hathaway for someone really hot!

I liked Independence Day as escapist non-thinking nonsense.

Once you start to analyze a movie like ID, it completely falls apart.

Regarding the dog, the very sad fact is that some people just don't give a shit about the death of hundreds, thousands or more humans. However the contemplation of a cute puppy being hurt is more than they can bear.

Two things about this movie: 1) the president (Bill Pullman), graduated from my Alma Matta. Embarrassed to say right now cause they tried to sell him when I was there. 2) this movie was an omage to previous sci-fi movies. Look for the various tributes; Planet of the Apes, War of the worlds, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, the day the Earth stood still , etc...

The end result makes you wanna burn every other movie in the world to make sure this bomb isnt made...sad thing is I saw this in the movie theatre 6 years ago when it premiered...

It's very rare that anyone goes to a movie to think, Hordeking. I think the only movie I've ever seen that I actually listened to the facts and really paid attention to was JFK. When you go to movies like that, you pay to see some cool explosions and some mild comedy sprinkled in. I didn't go to Jurassic Park 3 to think about the plot, but I came out satisfied because I saw some cool stuff. I knew what I was getting into when I walked into the theater.
