There is a band competing in the battle of the bands, which has an unfair advantage over the rest of the competitors, Imaginary Bill.

If you look on their website, they are a signed indie-label artist.
- unfair advantage #1.

They have had their music featured on MTV's Road Rules, an internationally syndicated program.
-unfair advantage #2.

Understandably, the rules for the battle of the bands are "subject to change", but i think it's time this issue is addressed.
Technically, under the current rules, Korn and Metallica could compete!(granted, a drastic example)

This contest, at least it was my impression, was all about unsigned, up-coming talent.
Someone should address this issue asap, if it's going to remain a level playing field.

Worry about yourself. They don't have an advantage. The moderators of the Ron & Fez Show are ultimately going to select a winner...and trust me, if we don't like the music, we're not picking the band.

Also stage presence should be a factor. You can have the best musicians on stage, but if they just stand there and play, it'll be boring. People are gonna have to rock this mutha!!!

My guess, the membership #'s will double, maybe even triple, but the # of people that actually give a damn about the show(and less who will post on the board) will remain the same.

Is having to register to vote really the only way to keep this contest fair?

Maybe it's just me, but i see TONS of traffic being deterred, let alone cluttering the board with, like Moe said, people who will sign up, post once and disappear.

Even I have some faves from other bands (Rev, you were right about that thing, that Quicksand thing, but I'm not saying what about who so I don't roon it). Nice work everybody.

As much as we'd love to have an unfair advantage over the other contestants,
I feel compelled to inform you that we are indeed an unsigned band.

Although we've been fortunate enough to get good press which led to other opportunities,
the fact that we've accomplished anything at all is only testament to the countless sleepless nights we'll spend, trying to self promote .

We lug our own equiptment through rain , sleet and snow just like you.

We all live hand to mouth in tiny, awful boxes struggling to pay rent and rolling with the countless punches.

We're in this contest because we LOVE the Ron and Fez show, and share the sentiments of the bands that appreciate the show just because it brightens our day.

Yes...obviously Metallica isn't going to sign up for the Rock & Ribs...use common sense here people...if a band needs this forum to promote thier band, most likely they are up and coming acts...

As for forcing people to sign up, the moderators have the problem well in hand. We will watch for solicitations and/or other useless garbage. Who knows, it might bring new people into the mix that have something to say...

OK. I posted a while ago with my
long winded dick Meltzer "rock is
dead" quote, an nobody
responded. I wasn't trying to be
a bummer. I was just trying to
throw some light on the fact that
Ron & Fez rule.

The fact that they have created
this forum for all of this great
music (That would otherwise
NEVER be heard by so many
people [in most cases]) is a
testement to how true they are
to thier fans. I was feeling a little
bummed because from the posts
I am reading, people seem to be
more of the attitude that they
are ENTITLEd to being posted
here.

This site is a gift to us all. What
Ron and Fez are attempting to do
is unprecedented, or at lease
unheard of in this day and age of
corporate bullshit totalitarian
Radio. I mean, a teenage band
from Staten Island being played
on the airwaves of a MAJOR
MARKET radio station is basically
impossible anywhere else. Ron
and Fez are soooooooo suportive
of us shit-kicking musicians that I
am almost moved to tears.

So I didn't weant to offend
anyone. I only wanted to show
the contrast between a fossil
closed minded nay-sayer like
Meltzer, and true advocates of up
and coming artists like Ron and
Fez. I love this whole concept.
Dig it while it's happening, and
don't fret about wheter or not
your MP3 is up or not. Your bands
are being strengthened, in a big
part by the kindness of Ron, Fez,
Rory, and Jeff and everyone else
who works for Ronfez.net.

And remember kids, corporate
rock still SUCKS. Enjoy yer

In the end, it doesn't really matter if they are signed or not. The only thing that will probably be better is the sound quality of the MP3's they submitted. Good music is Good music, and that is what will get votes, not a paper and a paycheck.

While All Boro Kings does share members with Dog Eat Dog, Dog Eat Dog is no longer a "signed band". They left Roadrunner after their last album and have yet to sign with another label.

Also, nobody from Bloodhound Gang is in the All Boro Kings. One of the members used to work for them, not play in the band.

Much to my delight my band, Casual Blue (www.casualblue.com-shameless plug), got the "you've made the top ten call about an hour before the contest ended." And much to my dismay we did not win this sucka. Oh well, its like having the worst case of blue balls ever. However, congrats to all those that made the cut.

I was also wondering if you guys would be posting a ranking of lets say the top 50 bands or something like that so we can see where we stand. I hope that I came in sixth place so that I can say that my band was the First Loser.
